It's located in town and makes for a good evening stroll up to the hilltop for a great sunset of Pailin town . There are numerous temples and monastery at the summit and at the foothill one can enjoy a fresh coconut juice at the vendors selling their food and drinks .

There is not a lot to do in Pailin but if you do find yourself there Phnom Yat is worth a visit. There are a number of different monuments / statues at the top and if you are lucky enough to be there on a nice day (I wasn't) I think there would be great views !!

Admittedly there isn't a whole lot to do in Pailin! As we were with Geologists, we checked out the local gem mining situation, and cycled from the Memoria Palace to Phnom Yat. About a 1/2 hour spin each way. Quite a steep service road that we had to push the bikes up for a bit. As Wat's go it was... More

Phnom Yat has many ancient structures with pagodas, stupas and statues. The site is high on a mountain overlooking Palin City. We drove to the top and slowly walked down. The architecture is amazing. My driver, Rin Ra, collected me at the bottom of the mountain. Highly recommended.

Interesting place. The mountain (hill) contains gemstones but is protected from mining, however after heavy rain many locals gather to look for sapphires in the gullies. Unfortunately it never rained when we were there! There is a small gem market near the base of the hill most mornings before 9

Lots of life size figures undergoing different forms of torture. Big pagoda at the top. Up too late for the sunset but nice views none the less from the top.

With a strong Burmese Influence Wat Yaht is unique in Cambodia. Its been developed a lot since my previous visit in 2009 with a new standing Buddha and Rebuilt Stupa with Burmese script. Its a colourful place ans with good views from the top.
