I’m here right now sipping a coffee on a table in the main Park, the coffee is delicious, the paisa people are so friendly and welcoming, this pueblo is clean and no beggars or drug addicts anywhere in sight, a true and real pleasure to visit!

A short overnight trip to the mountain getaway spot for many Colombians. Recommend a tour by motor taxi to get oriented to all the unique treasures of hiking, hang gliding, waterfalls, coffee and fruit farms, and bird watching. The central plaza is alive! The basilica is extraordinary. The local trout is a delicacy not to be missed, and the coffee!

We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon to be greeted by a cacophony of noise and bustle in the main square. There were hundreds of tables laid out for drinks, snacks or food and almost every table was occupied. We would guess that over 99% of people were Colombians, there appeared to be few tourists. The four hour bus journey south from Medellin means it is off the main tourist routes and most Colombian visitors come from Medellin for the weekend. The town reflects it native origins, there are a fewer gift and clothes shops compared to say Salento but mixed in with these are everyday shops such a butcher’s, ironmongers, mechanics workshops and the like. It feels much more authentic than Salento which caters much more for the foreign tourist trade. On Sunday morning there was a band playing in the square, in the evening food vendors take over selling all sorts off traditional food. There are bars all around the square each playing their own music which gets louder as the day wears on, great for people watching.
Weekdays are much quieter but the square still retains its ambience. The town is good to visit for a couple of days and for those who like walking there are a few routes just out of town.

It would be really hard to find a cuter town than Jardin. The central square was perfect with brightly colored building surrounding it, and locals and tourists alike out enjoying this beautiful place. There were lots of places to sit and have a drink or get something to eat and watch the world go by. If you are here, stay into the evening for the nightlife and to watch the riders come into town to show off their amazing horses. A very unique experience.

My favorite place is Jardin, I love this town, I go to Jardin every years , there were a beautiful fishing spots, I like to fish, in the town there were a lot of cafes, the coffee is wonderful, there was a candy house , in this places sold a traditional candys of the town, they sold a delicious jelly, near to the town there were a lot a ecologist trails, like the trail El esplandor in this trail there was a waterfall, in the town there was a cable car to a very religious place for the locals and it has a very good view of the town.

This visit to Jardin marked my 3rd in the past 9 years. Time has changed but the main park and centro areas have not, still a great place to relax and enjoy as the world keeps spinning in other areas.

This is one of the liveliest squares in all of Colombia. Everyone is out and about, sipping cafe Tintos , drinking a beer (or 2, or...), riding their horses, playing in the fountain, buying from the street vendors....just life...dancing by!

Took the bus from Medellin and once passed the city, the scenery was some of the best I’ve ever seen. And Jardin did not disappoint either. The center of town has a large square furnished with tables and chairs and every evening I was there (3nights), the place was teeming with locals and tourists alike. Overlooking the square is the beautiful basilica.
Spent most of one day at a wonderful coffee farm offering incredible views of the mountains. The owner is the 5th generation family member to run the farm, and he provided an informative story of how coffee beans are processed. Then he brought us to the coffee plants fitted with a basket around the waist and set us to harvesting the red beans! What an experience! We finished the afternoon with a home cooked meal (by the owner’s mother) and then took the 15 minute ride down the mountain back to Jardin.
The next day I walked all over the town and discovered countless restaurants, galleries, shops, and endless friendly people eager to chat.
I thoroughly enjoyed my days in Jardin and even contemplate living there someday. I highly recommend it as a 2+ day side trip from Medellin or Bogota.

Jardin is stunning, the main plaza is full of cafés and people enjoying their coffees on coloured chairs and tables. The place is very colourful and people are very friendly and welcoming. We spent 4 days in Jardin and I would have stayed longer. Excellent place to relax and enjoy columbian life.

I am trying to figure out if there is a place to stay overnight? We will not have a car, would like to be close enough to do the bird cock of the rock visit, maybe in town? Where did you stay?
