This is one of the stand-out buildings in the ruins of Delos. The columns still stand today and there is a beautifully preserved floor mosaic with Dionyosus on a tiger. Guides on the island will provide you with their interpretation of the history but it is plain it was a mansion belonging to a wealthy resident because of its scale... More

This mansion is incredibly well preserved for its ancient age. Excavators took pains to carefully uncover the soaring columns in the home's center atrium, and the mosaic floor is incredible. Our guide explained that the centerpiece picture suggests that the owner was a wealthy merchant, because his wine goblet is spilled on the ground, which could mean that he had... More

A lot of the house is still standing. A very beautiful mosaic floor. And the columns for the atrium. Interesting that under the floor is a cistern to store water.

Picturing this mansion which once stood almost 50 feet tall (or taller), with the amazing floor mosaics and beautiful columns, I could almost see myself visiting the wealthy merchant, removing my shoes after the hot walk up from the shops, and enjoying the shade and fresh fruits and wine he would offer in this mansion. Time, marauders and earthquakes have... More

Another of the ruined mansions on Delos, this has fine standing columns and the floor mosaics with panthers must have been really impressive.

Part of the tour to the Ancient Greek island of Delos, is the visit to the house of Dionysis. 7-8 Huge Greek columns are majestic and the mosaic in the middle of the largest room is typical (we're told) of artwork during that ancient time. Mosaics were on the floor instead of carpet, to function as art. 10 minute visit... More

You can almost feel the community as you stand among the ruins that go back thousands of years. You can see the homes of the wealthier residents of Delos, so many decorated and life was good for them, the merchant class. such beauty still evident after so much tme. A protected place.

Really impressive building, and you are allowed to enter the building. Lovely columns and a really nice mosaic covering the floor.
