A hidden garden in the Dandenong Ranges, the Alfred Nicholas Gardens are the original gardens of the ‘historic Burnham Beeches’ estate. The Gardens are renowned for their extensive water features including a quaint boathouse, the unusual Blackfish Pond and a picturesque lake which is fed by two striking waterfalls.

The structure of the garden is emphasized by the many rock walls, waterfalls, upper pools and the magnificent lakes. The many linking paths through this garden take you beneath a canopy of awesome Mountain Ash Trees.

Admire the natural beauty of the surroundings all year round. Walk through shady trees down to the picturesque lake, and picnic with the family by the boathouse. In spring, view the flowering azaleas, cherry trees and viburnum. Stroll through the magnificent gardens, take your dog for a walk or photograph the blooming flowers.

The garden is located on Sherbrooke Road, Sherbrooke. The visitor car park is opposite the main entrance.

I've never seen a garden so incredible before! It is quiet a hike back up hill from the lake but definitely worth it! Sealed and unsealed paths and stairs through a magical rainforest. The lake is picturesque. I wish I had more time to sit there and appreciate it more

This is such a pretty little garden to walk around in surrounded by forest. Really accessible for just about anyone with paved wide paths and dogs are also welcome in on a leash. One of the only spots that dogs are allowed to go in the Dandenong Ranges which is great because I always have my dog with me.

Excellent to take a walk or have a picnic. The lake is a great place to sit down or even at the arboretum.

Totally agree with previous reviews. This is a lovely garden that is very steep, the whole garden goes down the hill side. It's clear Parks Victoria are working on the garden, regravelling paths, planting, pruning etc. Toilet near front gate is bad. It wasn't a hot day on Sunday but it had lots of flies, no soap, no paper towel... More

What a beautiful garden! If I lived nearby this would be a place I would visit often! I highly recommend visiting and taking a stroll to the pond and enjoy a little picnic or read a book and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

This place is great. We saw fish and tadpoles in the pond, lots of birds and an echidna on the walking track. Free entry and you can take your dog on a leash. Quite a bit steep, and lots of stairs. Toilets are on site and there are drinking fountains available. I suggest you have about 1.5 hours free to... More

So obviously a once-beautiful spot, now falling into disrepair. Entry is free, but perhaps charging a little, and using the funds to restore its former glory. Beautiful rhododendrons, azaleas, and trees. Pity!

Quite a nice little restaurant, good service and tasty good. Very cosy with open fire burning. I have only been the once, but would revisit. I am a sassafras resident, so visit many local restaurants.

Easy walk from car park on a footpath through bush land. A plaque about who Alfred Nicholas was, in the car park.

This park is situated in Dandenong Ranges. I like to call it a hidden gem. On our return journey from Dandenong Ranges, we lost the way and on the new route, found this amazing Park. There is no entry fee and enough parking space too. There is a small lake too. The place is too beautiful to describe by words... More
