Inspite of other poor reviews we did visit. It is not easy to get to unless you have your own car or a driver. Lonf way for the bus stop.
It was interesting but we did feel 'ripped' off. Paid to get in, paid for a guide and then pressure in the shop - but we could cope with that. It was interesting but a big build up with little delivered. The mine was not a working mine and we just saw in the entrance and it was very sanitised.
We freely purchased an expensive neckpiece with a guarantee. Had it valued on return to New Zealand and the 'gems' were man made!! Don't buy in the shop!

Interesting place, it takes just 30 minutes to explore.
If you go by car, it is justified to go there, but in my case I paid $30,000 for a taxi plus tickets ($6,000 each for children and adults) and I don't know if it was justified.
On the other hand, you can pay the entrance only in cash. (nowadays they should accept other payment methods)

The visit is very interesting. Our guide (Camila Paredes) explained to us in a very knowledgeable manner the formation (geology) of the precious and semi-precious stones in the mining area. We toured the mines and were able to enter and appreciate the way they were extracted.

The walk is not so fabulous, there is a huge business that sells jewelry and from the most expensive to the cheapest but they lie to you that they are made of surgical steel and after a few days you can see the copper in the ring. The stones are beautiful. The expensive but real silver rings, the fake surgical steel ones. I fell in love with Peridot, a beautiful olive green stone!

Very interesting place, well equipped and with very friendly local guides. The children were delighted.
It has a store where they sell various worked pieces extracted from the mine.
It has a video room where they play a fairly low quality movie, but the parts, fossil remains, are well cared for and refrigerated.
Recommended excursion if you are in Puerto Iguazu.
It has a restaurant on the property, we did not agree due to a matter of time.

I didn't have much expectation, and I found it very interesting. The explanations of Gustavo, the Guide, were especially excellent. The place offers a different experience and I found it very interesting to complement the waterfall experience. For what they like to learn new things. The shop is very complete and has offers for all budgets

The mine tour is a trap. They just want to take people to their store to sell their super over inflated semi-precious stones. When I came back from my trip I took The stones to be appraised by three different jewelers, including a gemologist. The three stones were appraised at 1/3 of the price that they charged me at their factory. I paid Over a US$ 1,000.00 for stones that were worth less than $300. Please do not fall into their trap. Just don't go. You will be robbed for sure. And most of the time when you cross the Brazil border your entry does not allow you to go that far into Argentina. You can become illegal in the country and have further legal problems.

The tour itself was interesting. However, at the end of the tour, they bring you to the shop where they try to sell you jewelry. We declined, so they took us to an associated store to look at less commercial stones. We bought one aquamarine (they tried to sell us 3). We took it back to the UK where we got it valued and checked out, and the verdict is that they are fake. DO NOT buy from here.

I enjoyed my visit to the Wanda mines.
There are tons of mines with semi-precious stones in the triple-border or "Triple Frontera" among Paraguay, Brasil and Argentina (because of geological reasons) but Wanda is the closest to Puerto Iguazu, Argentina (43 km/27 miles)
The most of the tours to San Ignacio ruins will transport you to there. But if you want to go by yourself, you can take a taxi or drive. I went by tour because I wanted to know San Ignacio.
The mines are in the open air. In the ground there are "seemingly common" rocks that contains inside many semi-precious stones. It's an rare landscape but pretty too.
There, I could see amethysts, topaz and other type of stones.
There is a shop too where it's possible to buy some jewels or ornaments made with the stones of the mines.
It's not the best place to visit from Puerto Iguazu, but it is a pleasant location to go in your way to San Ignacio or if you have a free half day.

A very boring tourist trap of a stop on most tours to San Ignacio. For 4 pesos, you get a tour of the mines and a forced trip into their gift shop. I, for one, couldn't wait to get onto the bus and leave.
