Located beside the suburbs of Kew and Fairfield, Yarra Bend Park is the largest area of natural bushland near the heart of Melbourne. The park has a rich Aboriginal history, and once included the locations of the Yarra Aboriginal Protectorate Station and the Merri Creek Aboriginal School. Explore the park by foot or by bike, go boating on the river and enjoy superb views of the city skyline. Pleasant picnic areas, barbecues, rotundas and playgrounds make it popular with families. Studley Park Boathouse offers visitors the opportunity to dine in the restaurant, relax over a lighter meal in the indoor/outdoor café, or have a light snack from the kiosk while enjoying sweeping views of the Yarra River and natural bushland. You can also hire row boats, canoes and kayaks from the oldest operating boathouse in Australia. The park's best known geological feature is Dights Falls. Dights Falls is an artificial weir built on a natural rock bar across the Yarra. The weir was built in the 1840s to provide water to the 'Ceres' flour mill, one of the first in Victoria. The falls were later to become known as Dights Falls after the owners of the mill. The Yarra Bend Golf Course provides picturesque views of the river and rocky cliffs. Well known as one of Melbourne's premier public courses for years, Yarra Bend features high quality greens and sculptured fairways.

The Yarra River Main Trail goes along the Yarra River, which is Melbourne’s main river. It can be accessed at any point but really starts near Federation Square and then heads inland (East) following the meanders of the river. Once a little out of the central business district there are fewer pedestrians and there are fun sections that are on... More

Yarra Bend Park is a marvel. It houses a golf course and parts of it are almost virgin bush. There are paths to walk and ride on. Flying foxes (bats) have a big colony at Yarra Bend. It's worth making as trip to see them. You can also canoe on the Yarra River. The park is only about 4 km... More

The Yarra Bend Park follows the Yarra River as it winds and twists its way to Melbourne City. It contains continuous walking, running and cycling paths, sporting facilities, playgrounds, open ground and more. It provides locals with the green space they need to help with a healthy life style, and is also sufficiently attractive to justify a drive to get... More

When I lived in Richmond I always took visitors along Yarra Blvd to check out the different areas along this great park. You can get a great panoramic shot of CBD from Norris Reserve and wurundjeri spur lookout. You can check out thousands of flying foxes at bellbird picnic area. The kids love feeding the birds at the Studley Park... More

We decided to go for a walk and Yarra Bend Park is a large area which is also DOG FRIENDLY. There are many tracks in the park and we walked from near Dights Falls to Collingwood Market (Collingwood Childrens Farm area) and beyond. The area is green and mainly clean but rubbish was accumulating along the river which is sad.... More

I used to live opposite this park and walked through it nearly every day. It is a very pleasant place with plenty of trees, grass and walking trails. There are nearby cafes and easy parking available. The main Yarra trail (great for running/cycling etc.) runs through it, and leads all the way to the CBD. My only qualms with this... More

Great for running (but a bit too flat). Some nice single track trails. So many different spots. Have fun

It is so close to the city yet it is a very pleasant park away from the traffic and activity around. if you have time and want to escape from the city try this place .
