I could not visit the castle's interior (I think it is private). But the building, the garden and the view from all around justify the visit. Don't miss it if you happen to be around.

Impressive views of the lake and village...a day visit worth taking if you go to this area. There’s plenty around to see as well...

Lovely walk along the lake edge up to the parapet and in the grounds of the castle. Roses were heavily pruned so not in flower in winter but it was a nice place to visit.

The castle is located on the edge of the river and has the backdrop of the snow capped mountains which give it a beautiful scenic look. There is a polish museum in the castle as well which has an entry fee of 5 CHF and the entrance to the tower is through the museum. If you are interested in history it it worth the price.

Schloss Rapperswil is a beautiful castle in Rapperswil that offers some picturesque views of the surroundings. It is only about an hour’s drive from Zurich. Certainly would very highly recommend visiting same.

A nice castle overlooking the town, lake and surrounding landscape.
Unfortunately, only a very limited part is open to the general public for viewing.

We stopped at Rapperswil during our tour of Heidiland and Liechtenstein from Zurich. The castle was built in the early 13th century AD by the house of Rapperswil in the former independent city of Rapperswil. The castle and the museum are listed in the Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance as Class A objects of national importance.
It is about one hour drive from Zurich. The view from castle of Lake Zurich and surrounding mountains was stunning. Only limited portions are open for visitors, According to their website many halls and courtyard are available for weddings, meetings and parties. There is also boat service up to Zurich. It is worth spending some time in this small beautiful quaint town.

We spent a few hours here, the castle and courtyard are amazing and fun to explore. It's the perfect small old town feel. You can wander the cobblestone streets and we had lunch at a great little cafe. There are many places to eat and shop and have a great time here. It's about an hours ride from Zurich but worth a stop if you want to get a small old town feel. Fun to see and experience.
Side note: this was the only place in all our travels through Switzerland that there was a minimum charge to use a credit card.
