One of the more spectacular bridges although very small in size. Access to it for photography from below is restricted, but the best shots of it can still be obtained within the are still accessible. Very limited parking available however, so stopping to do so is a little hit and/or miss. Worth a very short stop (if possible).

Given the location. it was a bit awkward trying to get parked and to get pedestrian access to view this bridge and the awesome surroundings properly but we managed with care. Well worth a visit. Not sure if it would be possible to construct proper access and viewing point given the geology, if it had been I'm sure that they would have by now.

The Gates of Haast bridge on SH 6 (Haast Highway) provides spectacular views of the Haast River as it cascades through a deep gorge full of boulders. The bridge can be accessed on foot, from a nearby car park, for better viewing.

My wife and I were on tour and as part of it we crossed over the bridge. The scenery around it was quite spectacular.

Unfortunately due to a massive slip there has been a fence put up so you can not go under the bridge. Massive gateway ....

We stopped at the small car park on the north side of the bridge. The views were good. It was a quick stop on the way to Franf Josef Glacier.

This is a lovely and narrow bridge over the Haast river.
There's only one way on the road of the bridge so make sure to notice which direction the traffic is going before starting your crossing.

Visited on Wednesday 9th May. Officially a series of rapids on the Haast River, Gates of Haast Falls is located along Haast Highway. It is a roadside waterfall which is seen from a car when crossing the river. The is a small carpark where you can stop and explore the falls and bridge further. Well worth stopping to have a closer look.

Easy to pull up by the bridge and take a few photographs of this gorge, waterfall and bridge. Lovely colour water and impressive size rocks!
