Sometimes the most scenic roads in Life are the detour u didn't mean to take in life...

Exploring Himachal Pradesh..... Embarked on an unforgettable adventure through the Rajgundha with Barot Valley, a lesser-known gem in the Kangra region of the Himalayas.

Talking about offbeat, the Rajgundha in the Kangra region is a lesser-known and must-try experience. The expedition starts from to Bir, then onto the quaint little village of Barot before moving onto the beautiful and colorful valley of Rajgundha.

Rajgunda Valley is a peaceful getaway located at an altitude of approximately 2770 meters above sea level.
Rajgunda Village is surrounded by the Dhauladhar Mountain ranges on both sides with a clear sky above you look at. You can seed Clear Milky-Way in night as well. Rajgunda Valley is situated at a height of approx. (2770 meter sea level) and has 2 small villages (Kukkar Gunda and Rajgunda) and it is not connected with any road which makes this village more beautiful and popular trekking spot for all the trekkers, nature lover and adventure enthusiastic persons.

Rajgunda village has around 15-20 houses in this village with approximate population is in between 60-70 peoples. Villagers of these villages live here for 6-7 months and basic occupation of villagers is farming, and during winters due to heavy snow fall they moved to other place. Houses build there with old traditional way using stone, wood and mud. This valley is full of wild life and many endangered species of birds. Forest area around here fall's in the Dhauladhar Wildlife sanctuary. It's like connecting with nature, passing through oak trees, wooden elephants, waterfalls, orange-ish sunset, green meadows, local culture, traditional houses before finally arriving at Bharot......
There are two ways to reach Rajgunda Valley, From Barot Valley and another form Billing Paragliding site to reach on any of the spot, you need to reach either (Palampur or Mandi) depend on route you choose.

So i had one weekend and a Monday holiday with me, did not want to go to Barot with multiple tourists also Bir Billing had become too much accessible for tourists now (i am from Himachal only), so talked to my friends and learnt about Rajgunda valley downhill from Billing, so took my vcross from Delhi picked up my friends on the way and headed non stop to Rajgunda valley, so take the usual route till Bir and then narrow roads till Billing (30 Rs fees) and enjoy the take off site from Billing, but dont overstay start straight ahead(there is only one road), its totally offroad but i saw hatchbacks also there, this road is still not on google maps, if you search for Rajgunda, google maps will direct you via Barot and badagaran, dont fall for that, this road is newly constructed (earlier it was a trekking route),so within 1 hour you will reach Rajgunda downhill so you can stay at Zostel in Rajgunda or go a little down the road to 360 degree adventure (new property) in Kukurgunda (i stayed here because vehicle is in front of property, zostel is far down the hill and vehicle lies desolate on the road), after that took off for Palachak Valley from there going is a little tiresome but coming back its ok, total 18 km (to & fro), we did it in 5 hrs with breaks but the best part is, just absolutely mesmerising views, we had not a single tourist with us, on the trek too we had one single group who were going to stay there in Palachak (it can be done in a single day provided you start early and no rain), enjoyed the trout, sunset, rajmah chawal were yummy and in the evening sitting besides the Uhl river and enjoying the raw flow (no river in bir and in barot the hydroelectric project tames the river, plus the tourists), for those who want peace and are ready for silence, isolation and being with nature, please come here via this route, those who want to do cafe hopping, try bir and those who want a little luxury go to barot, rajgunda is not for cafe hoppers, evening music fests and luxury seekers, i will share the no of Mr Nand Lal ji, who can assist you, feel free to ask ( Palachal - Panartu - thamsar pass - Bada Bhangal),enjoy 👍

It is at the end of the roads type valley.. so while you are on couple of hours drive from Barot towards rajgundha, soon you will start realizing the beauty of this place.

It is a different type of valley than Barot, so do not let anyone fool you by saying that is is more or less same and no real fun going there.

You will enjoy every moment of it and drive all the way till end (beyond Bara Gran), where there is an under construction bridge, which connects Barot/Rajgundha directly to Bir. If you have SUV, you could drive all the way till Rajgundha valley.

Enjoy your time by the river have some snacks at local restaurant, which also have some tent/huts for stay.

We had opted for the 360• Rajgundha trek and paragliding, and thoroughly enjoyed both. Sanjay bhaiya was our guide for the trip. He was extremely cheerful and helpful, especially during the more difficult parts of the trek. We felt that we could trust them to take care of our safety and customer service seemed to be their top priority. The whole trip experience was professional from start to finish, with a great driver, cook and helper on the backroom team, and a very funny and informative guide in Sanjay bhaiya.
There were just 2 of us on the trek but he kept us entertained on the long walks with stories and trivia, and at the start and end of each day the food was absolutely fantastic. Sanjay bhaiyya also took us offbeat unexplored places on the way and surprised us!

About the trek.
Amazing place to be! Quite untouched and unexplored.
No amount of words can summount the beauty of this place! Just pack your bag and head to this location with your troop I can bet you won’t be disappointed because words won’t do any justice here. From snow, stars, scenic landscapes, you have everything here.

About Paragliding.

The trek ends at Billing, the launch site for paragliding. Awesome time paragliding with these guys. When it comes to something like this, it is absolutely the tour pilots that make all the difference in the experience.
My Piolet Rinku bhaiyya was amazing - he made it so much fun and surprisingly relaxed.
The flight was super relaxing and the views could not be better. It was all capped off with an awesome rapid descent to the landing in Bir.

It’s not scary at all, and rather very beautiful, relaxing and enjoyable, it’s a slow sport for you to glide along the mountains - very safe as you’re in safe hands.
Please do get the video and pictures package as it’s totally worth it.

It’s always great when doing an activity like this exceeds your expectations.

Many thanks to the Rajgundha Valley team!
Highly recommended.
