We went during the off-season (late November) so that does affect our experience some, and I realize that! It was, at first, difficult to find the walking path to the castle, and having encountered other lost tourists along the way, it is clear we were...More

The Reichsburg Castle is fantastic, you can see it from anywhere in Cochem, and at night they have it lite. It is well worth the time to do a tour of the inside, you see 7 rooms out the 50 or so.

Really worth the walk from the river, or you can catch a bus to the top for a few euros. Informative guides who speak English, sad that it’s only a handful of rooms open. But still, we enjoyed it very much

The castle was surprisingly real to.me, because of the artwork, furniture, table settings, lighting, and flowers designed to make you feel you have stepped back in Medieval times. The windows are open with expansive views of the courtyard, the town, and the Mosel river. They...More

There is a small touristic train that goes up the hill during the high (summer) season. It goes every hour. Departure is in city center (you cannot miss it).
