Beautiful religious paintings on the ceiling, a little jewel
Oct 2018 • Couples
After our lunch we walked through the mainstreets and square of Kevelaer, cosy and interesting. One of the little jewels is this little chapel, beautiful stained glass windows and wonderfully painted images on the ceiling, worthwhile to visit when allready in Kevelaer.

Mercy, baroque style
Nov 2017 • Solo
Actually this small mercy chapel was built in 1654 seven years later than the nearby pilgrim's church (Kerzenkapelle) and perhaps more importantly in a different baroque style in contrast to the austere Protestant churches in the North. One can imagine the almost frivolous architecture was more appealing to the Roman Catholic pilgrims especially when they came from Northern Germany, Holland and England where they were a minority. The chapel was built around the old prayer column and still serves as a place to pray by devotees who are again increasingly a minority in modern Europe.

Beautiful chapel in a lovely square
May 2017 • Business
This place is wonderful to come and visit and reflect. The inside of the chapel is beautiful and I highly recommend lighting a candle along the side of the main church to remember a loved one.

Architecture and sheer wow factor an absolute that you will love if you're into things religious as I am.
I think it's one you will want to see once but it will do then. You will however remember. It is a little overshadowed by the candle chapel which is just totally amazing.

It is amazing to see how devoted people are. To me that was the most impressive part of my visit to Kevelaer.

The Lourdes of gemany
Jul 2015
On of the most visited shrines in Germany. The setting in the coppelston square with
Limetrees for shade, is quite unique. It's a place to reflect and say a prayer for your loved ones . The madonna (the lady of Luxembourg ) is only very small but surrounded by precious jewels, were donated by wore shippers .
Kevelaer is a lovely town with something for everybody, from restaurants, fantastic cafes and shops
