Take a tour for a real look at what a castle should be. The paintings alone are worth the visit. Within the walls surround the castle are old homes of the rich and Guilds. Some look lopsided from age (1600's) and others pristine. The guild...More

This is one of those castles with guided tours in German on the hour - so having just missed the 4pm tour and not wanting to miss the chance to see Wetzlar I skipped the prospect of a potentially boring German language tour and settled...More

The castle is an awesome way to spend a Sunday! The guided tour takes 50 minutes and for the English guide you need to announce first. Only the paintings inside make the whole tour worth it. Inside the castle might be a little cold (2-3...More

When the Solms Dynasty moved from Greifenstein to Braunfels my ancestors did too. Brauinfels visits are a must. Approach to the castle is over a charming open area framed by timbered housing. The castle has been restored around the 1850s with additions in the Neo-Romanesque...More

We paid two euro's for entering the museum, it was well worth it with some interesting artifacts that I have not yet seen elsewhere. But unfortunately it was in really bad shape, probably not so good for the older artifacts. Walking around the castle itself...More

First visit the castle--take a master tour. Then visit other areas and make sure to eat in the market area, just down hill from the castle.
