About
Wellcome to Braunfels Castle! It looks a bit like in a fairy tale, but it is real. Located on the very top of a rock it wellcomes its guests from far. Since centuries its owned by the family, which is still living there. Braunfels is a charming little place with the huge castle right in the middle of it. Braunfels Castle itself offers an attractive variety of sightseeing possibilities, which however are a bit limited in wintertime (Nov.- March). Enjoy your stay in Braunfels!

All parts were very satisfactory: homepage, access, welcome, registration, materials, friendliness, competence of guide, details given on the guided tour.
Don't miss to make a break at the romantic cafe.
A guided tour is a must - otherwise you miss the interior and you don't get the full historic picture.
This is really value for money.
Spend a few Euros to buy the booklet - it gives wonderful memories.
And the staff are very open and friendly to children!

A great experience to see the castle (by guided tour). The tour was informative, entertaining, just great. In addition to the guided tour, you can also visit the private museum for 1€ with old weapons, coins, tools, clothes,...).

Many parking facilities (P Schloss).
The castle is well maintained and the interior is still the original one, very rich. The visitor has a good impression how was to live there. Recommended for children passionated of knights and princesses.
It is requested to use stairs to move inside the building.

We (3 couples) had booked a tour of the castle with a visit to the keep. The booking process was straightforward. The costs (11 euros per person) are - in our opinion - low. Booking the keep (only possible on request) was more or less a "private tour". There were seven of us with the guide. We would like to thank our supervisor for the absolutely competent tour, she answered all of our questions (and there were many!) in detail. Thank you for that! We can recommend the tour without reservation!

We already know the picturesque castle from one of the public tours that we were able to experience with our family. But today we were able to get to know it again as part of a birthday party. Our son invited his friends to a party at Braunsfels Castle called "Härmel the little castle ghost". From the exciting story to the party in the tower room, this afternoon in these historic walls was a great success. Very well organized, professional in dealing with children and in coordination with the parents, always helpful and courteous to give the children an unforgettable experience. We would especially like to thank Andrea, who skilfully guided the children through the birthday party.

We had a wonderful day with our American friends at and in this wonderful castle! In addition to the imposing backdrop and the great view, we really liked the tour, which was conducted by Mrs. Süß with a lot of information, wit, expertise and charm. Thank you!

We decided to celebrate the children's birthday here and were looking for something new. And we remained very satisfied – the leadership exceeded all our expectations. I think we were lucky to have the best museum teacher, Ms. Sabine Süß. The children listened eagerly, and the various stories, jokes and facts only aroused their interest even more. Not only was it beautiful, but there was also an incredible amount to discover!

We did the English tour with the Canadian guy (forgot his name). The tour was very informative, approx.. one hour. Inside the castle is amazing, with a lot of objects that are part of the castle's history, unfortunately is not allowed to take pictures inside, but this is understandable as this is still a family heritage dated of many centuries.. the small Church inside also worth a look as it's free. We had a small dog in a proper backpack for pets, that was allowed to come with us (not on the floor), this was also very nice from them. I definitely recommend this tour at Braunfels Castle, a must go if you are in Germany!

Excellent tour with historical details about the castle and also about the family. Not a graveyard of dates, but very lively and entertaining thanks to many anecdotes.
Please note: it remains very cold in the building even when the outside temperature is higher. When we visited it was 23 degrees outside and 10 degrees inside.

Although we do not live so far away, we visited Braunfels Castle for the first time and were delighted! We booked a guided tour and the young man also knew how to capture our 15-year-old daughter with his stories. In keeping with the times and with many anecdotes, the one-hour guided tour was over much too quickly ☺️

Hello, I was born and raised in New Braunfels Texas and lived there for 53 years before moving to central Texas. I have e-mailed the Schloss Braunfels castle in German to request an English tour and to order tickets for a Sunday in September. Could anyone make suggestions as to how to set this up? We will be visiting Germany in Austria in September and at the top of our list is Braunfels.
Thank you Carolyn J. W. Temple, TX, United Sates
