Wellcome to Braunfels Castle! It looks a bit like in a fairy tale, but it is real. Located on the very top of a rock it wellcomes its guests from far. Since centuries its owned by the family, which is still living there. Braunfels is a charming little place with the huge castle right in the middle of it. Braunfels Castle itself offers an attractive variety of sightseeing possibilities, which however are a bit limited in wintertime (Nov.- March). Enjoy your stay in Braunfels!

When the Solms Dynasty moved from Greifenstein to Braunfels my ancestors did too. Brauinfels visits are a must. Approach to the castle is over a charming open area framed by timbered housing. The castle has been restored around the 1850s with additions in the Neo-Romanesque...More

The building is lovely from the outside. Inside the last two rooms in the tour are musty and moldy smelling. Staff was awful!! When we arrived we were told we could follow along in a booklet but there were no English tours that day. Tour...More

We paid two euro's for entering the museum, it was well worth it with some interesting artifacts that I have not yet seen elsewhere. But unfortunately it was in really bad shape, probably not so good for the older artifacts. Walking around the castle itself...More

A beautiful 19th century gothic castle with ties to Texas! We did not take the inside tour as we didn't plan this part of the trip. We did walk around the grounds and park behind it and the village at the foot of it. Impressed...More

We booked a tour more than a week ahead of time(as the website required). We showed up 30 min before our tour and was told a group of Canadians (who did not book ahead of time) wanted to tour the castle. We weren't really given...More

From the previous castle in Weilburg, which I watched before to BRAUNFELS is only 12 kilometers. But to go there by public transport is very inconvenient. Go not via Leun-Braunfels railway station, better choose Solms. From Solms buses run more frequently and drop you on...More
