There were many iterations of this castle through the ages. Wats seemed to change it. They try to give you the feel of these changes. Very historical. And then there are the Cork Models of Ancient Rome. Quite an extensive collection.

The castle offers a breathtaking view of the river, and it’s adjacent to the amazingly festive outdoor farmer’s market. It’s also walking distance from the shops, cinema, book stores and classic record stores. It’s a perfect blend of the old and the new: especially on...More

The castle was quite large and interesting to view the towers and take pictures. We didn't have time to complete the official tour and just walked inside the courtyard, around the castle and in the gardens. Good view of the river from the walls.

We went for a conference in March 2017. The rooms, conference facilities, food were excellent. It is well kept and has excellent manicured lawns. The building is very old but the inside is refurbished and very modern.

For an American, I found this quite interesting. Was able to walk around the outer grounds but was not able to inside at the time I was there. Since then I have seen many castles in Europe but this was the first.

Given how decimated this building was during bombings of the 2nd world war it has been restored remarkably well with the exterior maintained and the interior revamped to make it more user friendly as a museum. The cork displays are amazing, well worth a look....More
