A sacred temple dating back to ancient times. This is the place where Lord Hanuman reside after Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya. Located atop a hillock, one has the climb easy steps to reach the temple. There are many shrines within the premises and Arathi in the morning is not to be missed. Akhara of a rare sect manages the affairs of temple with dedication and devotion. The Hanuman sitting in the lap of Mother Anjani is in the sanctum sanctorum. There are many monkeys around so one should be careful with carry bags or any food items. As this is a place of worship it's necessary to follow decorum and proper dress code. Vehicle require to be parked at the entrance and walk up to temple.

We visited the temple from back entrance. Our guide told us that there were about 70 steps to climb from main entrance side and there was also a huge rush, the day being Tuesday which is the day of Lord Hanuman. So we went through back entrance climbing about 30 steps.

Located in the middle of Ayodhya, Hanuman Garhi is 1 km from Ayodhya railway station. We reached here around 8pm. Remove your shoes and socks or slippers at any Prashad Shop. Around 76 steps lead to the main temple, it is one of the most popular temple complexes of Lord Hanuman in North India. The temple is very colourful with red and green as prominent colours. You will find here a beautiful idol of Bal (young) sitting on lap of Maa Anjani. Several small temples and Satsang halls are also there. It is a custom and belief that before visiting Ram temple one should first pay visit to Lord Hanuman temple. Take care on Tuesdays as you will find long ques to reach the main temple.

Now how can you write anything bad about Gods home :). Hanuman Garhi is great yet can be better in so many ways. The place just has tremendous energy, no matter the crowds or the time, there is a just a very different experience over here, beware of the monkeys as they are very fond of flower garlands. There are a decent number of steps at the entry but mostly manageable.

Here are few tips for the people visiting first time. Do not engage anyone telling you to give a tour for just 20 rupee, they would mostly take you to people who will then make you shelve off more money in form of offerings, instead go on your own, its a very straight forward place. The shops are all alike and negotiations work great. For visiting different places in Ayodhya, better engage any regular Auto and for about 100-150/- they will take you to all important places.

There are not many decent places for food, so just bear with it or carry your own, again beware of the monkeys if eating in open.

"JAI SHREE RAM"

Oldest & famous hindu temple of Hanuman Ji . Must visit this temple and feel blessed.
Please be cautious while moving in & around this temple as you found many monkeys as such they do not harm anybody but try to snatch things from your hands.

It is located in the heart of the most sacred city of Hindu's.called Ayodhya at a distance of about 130 Kms from Lucknow.Perched at a height of about 70 steps.,looks like a small fortress ,that is why known as Hanumangarhi.Devoted to most revered Hanumanji.Ancient pious and ceremonial temple for Hindu's.Just beneath the temple is a big hall where you can see many head to during ceremony in process.
