I visited in the early afternoon, and parked in the cheap car park. I could hear the laughter of children playing in the facilities on the other side of the dam quite clearly - they sounded like they were having a fantastic time. A group...More

We visited as part of a coach tour following in the footsteps of bomber command. We visited the Eider dam as part of this. There are Restraunts here a few gift shops and a nice place for a wander.

Ideal lake for a good ride. Special lanes for cyclists. Negative is the enormous amount of motorbikes cruiing around the lake.

We stopped at the dam, and walked over it. Unfortunately no power generation, the water was too low in the lake. Nice place for technical perspective.

We were staying quite close to here, which was a spot of luck. It was only when we realised it rang a bell as in 'Dam Busters', that it quickly became a no-brainer to visit. We were also very lucky with the weather and we...More

Iconic because of the famous Dambusters raid - you can still see the evidence of the breach. On a sunny day it was great to have a stroll across the dam and take in the views. Surrounding the area is a small very pleasant town...More

Standing on the dam you try to imagine that night 17th May when the Lancaster bombers flew across and attacked the dam - such memories never fade =,

Lake Edersee is the largest man-made lake in Germany, perhaps in all of Europe. We stayed in Schloss Waldeck, and had a lovely view of the lake.

Read the story behind the "Dambusters" raid in 1943, before seeing the dam. It will blow your mind. It is unbelievable, that the RAF carried out this attack at night in may 1943. The dam itself is worth a visit, at the lake is very...More

The Lake is lovely with a cordoned off swimming area and slides etc in the water, plus boat cruises to book if you wish. The "beach" is fairly uncomfortable down by the water's edge so take plenty of towels, picnic mats etc to sit on....More

Not that we were aware of. We had a car so sorry I can't help. However I did notice a bus stop at the bottom of the hill winding up to the castle, so there must be transport?
