The boat makes 45 minutes to get to the Kloster and 20 back. It costs 10.50 the round trip. Nice views and it makes a perfect day trip.

We arrived quite late in Kelheim and only got on the last ship tour. Unfortunately, we could not leave the ship and visit the nearby Monastery with one of the oldest breweries. Still, we enjoyed the tour and admired the beautiful nature. The ships serve snacks and drinks (monastery beer as well) and the staff was very friendly. Along the... More

This ferry ride was added to our visit to the Abbey. It is a "don't miss" if you have never seen the Black Forest and want to experience the narrowing of the Bavarian Danube in this location. The ferry was clean, provided smooth sailing, many a delightful narration to accompany the architecture, flora and limestone cliff structures nature etched through the... More

I know that the rating might not be neutral, but I've grown up in the vincinty and often did the trip there. Whenever I had guests and there was time (Regensburg is such a nice city, too) i try to make a tour. When one likes nature and the weather is good I think it is really a nice journey.... More

The scenery is very nice, but we had too many people on a Sunday morning around us. The ship was full (not on our way back) it was loud and we did not enjoy it. The beer garden was full and pricy. To visit the monastery was great, but we somehow expected more from our visit. We've seen it!

I had last seen the Danube Gorge (Donaudurchbruch) about 40 years ago and it was as beautiful as ever. We took the boat from Kelheim through the gorge to Kloster Weltenburg, spent some time in the monastery and took another boat back a few hours later. The boats leave every 45 minutes. They are very clean and you can have... More

We took a small excursion boat through the Danube Gorge while drinking beer and munching on pretzels. The waters are very shallow and iron rings still remain on the high cliffs of the gorge when boatmen used to pull boats through the gorge. The gorge was populated centuries ago by cavemen and is now a wildlife protected area for game... More

This is a narrow cliff-rimmed stretch of the Danube breakthrough. Ferry/excursion boats ply these waters, carefully (and slowly) going one at a time through patches water only 5 to 6 feet deep. In times past, iron rings had been mounted into the rock wall and these were used to pull the boats upstream. It is slow-going and that makes it... More

We took the boat from Kelheim thru the gorge to the Weltenburg monastery. Nice towering rock walls and beautiful scenery.
