We went here to enjoy a day out on the mountains.. Firstly on arrival we, like other motorists were directed to an ugly, massive parking complex.. This was an expensive parking - you don't need to pay to go walking but here they make you.. Top tip: Park lower down and take bus (usually free with a guest/tourist card..
Approaching the start you are faced with lots of tacky shops and ugly hotels.. Nature has been spoiled here.
The cable car is expensive and the distance it covers so short it is best avoided..
The mountain isn't very interesting and all in all it is best avoided as you be sharing the space and the path with thousands of others..

We set off on our trip to the Feldberg in glorious late autumn weather. We had read that there was an option to take the cable car to the summit. We wanted to try it out.
When we arrived at the valley station, we had to drive into the parking garage. On the second floor, at the end, just before the ascent and descent, there are disabled parking spaces and toilets as well as the exit. You get to the valley station along the shopping street. With the "ag" and "B" signs, there was a 100% discount for the accompanying person. We then lined up at the entrance to the gondola. The accompanying staff were very friendly and attentive. It was explained to us: "The gondola slowly moves in, then a ramp is put up. Then I was asked to drive onto the ramp and drive all the way into the gondola. Then my wife was given permission to get in and she could sit in the seat facing uphill. During the descent, the colleague in the mountain station was informed. The ride was fantastic, who would have thought that you could experience something like that again. In the mountain station everything was done in reverse order. The helper was just as friendly as the helper in the valley.
Our first ride went to the Bismarck monument. From there I had a fabulous view of the hills and valleys of the Black Forest. With sunshine, blue skies and a great view, we could see as far as the Alps. Then we went to the tower with the ham museum. In the tower there is a spiral staircase and an elevator. I didn't like this so much because every time I wanted to go to the next floor to see the exhibition there, the elevator was occupied. Wheelchair users and other visitors use the elevator. Getting in then becomes a lottery. We stopped right after the first floor. It was a shame. Afterwards we passed the time on the various hiking trails.

We are a family of experienced skiers/snowboarders and brought another family of beginners with us to Feldberg Ski resort based on reviews of it being family friendly and beginner friendly. Family friendly; yes everyone on staff was nice but I disagree with it being considered beginner friendly. The two main slopes rated beginner (slopes 8 and 9) are primarily fed with an extremely long “T” bar rope lift and a smaller rope lift INSTEAD of a 2 or 3 person chairlift. Slopes 8 and 9 were too steep for beginners. The rope lifts were brutal for all and extremely tiring for skiers and not snowboard friendly. On the other side of the resort there is a wonderful 6 person lift and a fantastic beginner slope but the only way to get back across to the main part of the resort is a ridiculous bridge which is extremely narrow and steep…not good for beginners. There was always a traffic jam to get down from the bridge and complete havoc and accident friendly.
Needless to say; I enjoyed being on the slopes but was disappointed with the layout of the ski resort and lack of chairlift for the main beginner slopes. I am the skier in the family and wouldn’t mind returning to Feldberg, but the rest of my family are snowboarders and they don’t want to return.

During summer season it’s nice to go up there and admire everything around from the top point of the Black forest.
Restaurants and even a ham museum in the top.
Perfect place for hiking with many options.
Just if you decide to go up and down with the cable car it’s expensive.. 12€ for a short distance.

We visited in the summer. Took the cable car the short distance up the mountain. (is easily walkable and not too steep if you prefer - around 2km I think).
We then walked uphill (again not too steep) to the viewing point and tower. Great view. It was a fairly clear day and we could see the Alps in the distance.
We continued on a loop trail behind the view point, which took us through a small portion of forest, up steps at the side of the cafe/hut, back up the the tower and onto the cable car. Made a nice scenic walk of around 4 miles.

Lovely walking area. Travelled to the Feldburg cable car. Large parking area. Took the small cable car to the top. Up in lift to the observation tower. Fantastic views all round.
Nice walking areas. On clear days you can see to the alps.

Great 8 mile hike with 2000 feet of elevation. We started at nature center toward Feldberg then looped around to Feldberg. There are a few Huts if you want to stop rest and eat. Trail is well marked and intersects with many other trails.

A visit to Feldberg in Summer is a must, if you are visiting the Black Forest. This trip can be clubbed with the visit to Titisee(the famous lake) in the black forest accessible by bus from Feldberg. For hikers, there are multiple options, either to hike to the lake first from the station and then upto Feldberg or the otherway round. I chose to hike to the lake first and then follow the route from the lake right up to the highest point. While descending to the station, however, I chose the bus, since my legs were almost giving up :-) The place is extremely beautiful, apart from being the highest point in the black forest, the aerial view from the top is astounding. There are small benches on the top, where one can sit for hours and enjoy the solitude, sometimes the tingling bells of the cattle echoing from the far away mountains.
For the ones not interested in hikes, cable car close to the bus-stop will take you right to the top.Take the bus 7300 from the station and while returning, take the same bus to Titisee. Wish you all a pleasant experience.

The Feldberg in the Black Forest is a great place to visit if you are staying in the Freiburg (Breisgau Germany) or Basel (Switzerland) area. With its fairly bare top, you get fantastic view from up there across the Back Forest, the Vosges in the Alsace and as far as the snow-capped peaks of the Swiss Alps on clear days, mostly in late September or October. You can drive almost all the way to the top, to a small plateau where you find a nice variety of shops, restaurants and hotels. During the vacation and on nice Sundays, the parking lots (fee) fill up pretty fast and you can drive along the dead-end road which terminates by the hotels, but this can mean you walk the last part. So get there early or avoid Sundays.
From the parking lots you can either walk to the top, which is not far, or take the chairlift and then walk around the flat top. What’s also beautiful for the more serious hiker is to go down to the Feldsee, about 45’ to 60’ minutes’ walk from the Feldberg; a gorgeous little mountain lake nestled between deeply wooded slopes, a real beauty.

Hi, is there snow in Feldberg in May, not for skiing, but like a white coat somewhere accessible, where kids can play a bit in it. We are spending a day in the black forest in early May and this would be the highlight of our trip if there was any!, Thanks in anticipation.

Sim. Carro seria a melhor opção. Tem muita coisa para ver nesses 350 kms que separam essas cidades.

As a family we are going to ski in Feldberg, Germany, during the February half term. Last year in Oberstdorf we found an indoor picnic area where we could eat our own food in comfortable and warm surroundings. Does anyone know of a similar picnic area in Feldberg?
Written 7 January 2018
Hi! We’ve just returned from a weekend skiing in Feldberg. Didn’t find any picnic rooms. We also skied in Oberstdorf last year. Feldberg was very busy and queue times about 15 mins. But very beautiful. We sailed around Oberstdorf last year with no queues.
