The old castle is impressive. The museum was under renovation when we visited October 2018. The display of old swords and weapons was still great. There is very little English labels. The 1866 war display was great.

There was an interesting exposition about Sinti and Roma peoples' life in Germany before and during the 2nd WW. The Bayerisches Armeemuseum was at a walking distance from our hotel Bayerische Hof.

This review covers a long planned trip to Ingolstadt to visit the Bavarian Army Museum. The collection in the Tilly's Redoubt is probably the single best WWI museum I have ever visited, rivaling what I remember of the Imperial War Museum's collection. Of course it...More

I just visited, or actually wanted to visit this museum, but it was a total fail. I wanted to visit the whole museum, and my friend only the first part, in the castle. We asked the Helga at the tickets, what kind of tickets we...More

The trench warfare exhibit stopped my children compelling them to want to hold hands. It was memorable (and really not scary; however, it surprised them). The museum tells the history well (descriptions are only in German).

We didn't go to the main museum but crossed the river to the WW1 museum at Reduit Tilly. Quite simply an excellent hour and a half. True it is all in German but it's very visual and approaches the subject from many different angles: technology,...More

Traveled to Ingolstadt specifically to see this museum. Its displays are definitely dated and only in German. No attempt to provide English, French, etc. Needs a serious overhaul to add languages and technology.

Everybody should see this when come to Ingolstadt. Not bad,but for me quite boring. Not that much interesting. But for german history lover should be great.

I travelled by train from Munich.....about 40 minutes to the northern station, then by bus which drops you outside. Hundreds of hotels in Munich to sort any pocket.
