You don't need to be religious to enjoy this museum but if you have an interest in history you cannot fail to be impressed with this collection, especially the ancient textiles and the huge silver processional cross. The entry can be purchased on a combined ticket that covers all the museums by the cathedral.

So much to see, incredible historical pieces, artwork and amazing furnishings that are from an opulent era that inspires the imagination. A worthwhile place to visit.

I was deeply impressed by the huge silk robes embroided so skillfully with golden threads, absolutely amazing. How many women and how many hours did it take to make such a robe? There is also a unique collection of valuable liturgical objects, relics, golden heavy ornaments and more. Entrance fees 4 euro p.p. I think it is a small but... More

The museum is worth a visit, particularly on cold, windy days! First, housekeeping: 4 Euro fee is paid at the small gift shop which is directly inside the door, restrooms off that room, bags including handbags are required to be placed in lockers (free), no photography allowed, no evidence of an elevator. Many of the artifacts came from the time... More

Diocesian Museum interesting for artifacts well presented and its information on Clement II. Probably not for the casual visitor. It is a typically quiet and serene venue. Good for a break on a snotty winter's day.

A great museum to visit with several rooms and exhibits was very informative although an audio guide would have been best as my German is not so good. Highly recommended as it is adjacent and left of the main entrance to the cathedral.

Don't be put off by the fact that this is a museum of solely ecclesiastical exhibits. The quality of the early vestments and needlework is probably worth the entrance charge alone. Unfortunately however there is little documentation for the visitor in any language other than German. Foreign language audio guides really would be very helpful.
