During the summer when all the different varieties of roses are in bloom, this is one of the most beautiful places in Bamberg. I spent a couple hours just strolling, sitting, relaxing, reading my walking tour guide and overlooking the city. Go. Enjoy!

After walking quite a long ways up a very large hill we got to the rose garden! It's beautiful even in November there were roses blooming! If it wasn't so cold we would have stayed longer. Beautiful city views from up there!

When I was there the roses were in full bloom and it was all lovely. I found the flooring of the portico as we entered quite interesting! It was made of pieces of wood placed very close together. Rather than having stone or bricks…one of the residents of the Residenz used this wood method to cut down on the noise... More

What a wonderful little spot to relax and enjoy the views of the town! Take a book to read or just sit down and enjoy the beauty of the garden.

Vistited the garden at the height of summer. My wife, who grows roses at home, particularly enjoyed exploring the many different varieties. It was also a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a sandwich lunch.

Yes the roses are almost, almost all dead for the year, however there were a few still hanging on and still others hoping yet to bloom.

The garden is divided up by two paths at right angles to one another, with a round fountain pool in the centre. Be sure to walk over to the wall and take in the beautiful view of the city of Bamburg. The garden is bordered with clipped lime trees and a dainty garden pavilion (completed in 1757) and with around 4,500 roses... More

While visiting the New Residenz, be sure to go outside and stroll through the beautiful rose garden. You will have a fabulous view of Bamberg from the wall and see a beautifully maintained rose garden. Certainly worth the time!

Go there with your sweetheart (but don´t let your wife know). Hundreds of different roses will delight her. Carpe diem - but not the roses!

Just down from the Bamberg Dom is the entrance to the rose garden. Although not huge, it is fairly extensive with lots of different coloured roses. Luckily, not a lot of tourists have the time to explore the garden after visiting the Dom, so it is not crowded. One side of the garden provides great views of Bamberg below. It... More
