When we arrived we were told the tour of the residence is in German only however we were welcome to tag along and read the placards. So we went through the rooms that had artwork while we waited. You cannot tour the residence rooms without the guide. What ended up happening is she first spoke in German to the larger... More

We took a tour of the beautifully restored room of the New Residenz and we impressed with the beauty of the place. The rooms are ornate and the ceiling frescos are amazing. It requires some walking but really worth the time and effort!

The Neue Residenz is located near the cathedral. It is kind of plain from the outside but the plaster work and paintings inside are something to see. The furniture and the rooms are beautiful. There are nice views of the city from the rose garden. It is worth a visit.

he best 7 Euro I spent in Munchen. This Lavish spectacle of structural and interior design is breathtaking in it's detail and extensiveness. I am pretty handy with tile and woodworking, but I feel totally inadequate when I see the workmanship and think of the time that must have been invested for all this beautiful decadence. Excellent way to spend... More

New residence for the bishop. set in a large courtyard area with cobblestones.. plenty of room to move around. Inside, there's lovely buildings with bright geraniums hanging from pots, brightening up the stone coloured facades

We came here and were assigned to a German tour, to see the residenz. They also had cards in English describing each room but the descriptions were minimal, just a few lines. We had such a great experience at wurzburg's residence the previous day, where they had guided English tours 5 times daily. We left here after the first floor,... More

Its located right near the cathedral and is like a museum. Its like a museum with entry fee and mainly for art lovers. Place not to be missed is the rose garden behind which offers stunning views of the city.

It's a nice palace, but there's not that much to see. The guided tour is in German, so if you're not from Germany you miss out most of the things. There are books in other languages but they contain little information. It's definitely worth a visit if you happen to be around Bamberg, but it's not that special. The rose... More

The Neue Residenz was a scale-down of the original residence however it was intentionally built to fulfill the need of the Bishop. Traveling through the medieval castles, palaces and residenz, we noticed small space was preferred to the oversized space. Many huge structures were being abandoned. In Bamberg, a complete new residence was built next to the original one showing... More

Located opposite the Bamberger Dom, the Neuer Residenz is a 2 wing building similar to other Schonborn palaces - beige sandstone, 3 levels, long rows of multi-windows evenly spaced with baroque decor above and under the windows, spacious but ugly cobblestone square all along the front of the building. What's different is that this residence has only 2 wings. The... More
