Murals

The Rathaus is worth visiting to view the murals and plaster additions on the outside walls. The view from the back of the Rathaus is picture worthy too.

This historic landmark of the city, first mentioned in 1387, was rebuilt between 1461 and 1467 in a Gothic style with later updates in Baroque and Rococo. This very striking building occupies a small island in the river Regnitz purposely constructed for this town hall. It is a very interesting and photogenic building, both for its impressive architectural structure, the... More

I really enjoyed walking through what was city hall. The frescoes are beautiful. The fact that the building covers the whole island and even has parts that are cantilevered is remarkable. Be sure to look at both sides of the building as on one side, a little angel stick a leg out of the picture. It's impressive to stand on... More

This is a very picturesque building. It is built on an island in the middle of the Regnitz River. There are murals painted on the building. We walked on both sides of the building - great views from all angles. The building appears on postcards. It is worth taking the time to see it; and to take photos.

You have to go here. It's in old town, and the cities most famous landmark. There is a wood bridge just up the river, near the locks that has the best view of this.

The view of this building from up-river appears on lots of post cards and travel shows about river cruises. It looks exactly as shown. The sides of the building, which sits on a tiny island in the middle of the river, are painted with murals depicting life in the city. The bit that sticks out at the rear of the... More

Really loved this building, never seen anything quite like it. Nicely lit at night for lovely photos. At dusk the river was FULL of slalom kayaker practicing on the whitewater, really fun to watch!

A "must see" in Bamberg. Strongly recommended the "Schäuferle" (pork roast with the shoulder blade bone) and the famous smoked beer. Prices are fair but the place is so popular and busy that a reservation is recommended if you are more than two. Still, even then the service personnel seems overwhelmed when you ask for your reserved table.
