A nice old cathedral on top of the hill but without a guide hard to follow because no audioguides. Interesting contrast to the old cathedrals in places like Spain and France. Has an original 13th century statue still in place.

This is a jewel of medieval town. Need to visit the Dom as it is just amazing. Many interesting places to have a meal or snack.

A beautiful very old 12 century Cathedral. The interior has many of old furnishing which have been added over the centuries. The surrounding buildings reflect the changes that have occurred down through the ages.

We did a quick self guided tour of the Bamberg Dom. Beatuiful church, but guided tour may be a better option. We had many questions when we left.

This is a rather plain cathedral. There's very little decoration on he inside. There are no stained glass windows. The highlight is the carved tomb.

The Cathedral does not look much from the outside especially with the work being completed on it. The outside does look impressive with... More

This was still interesting after seeing several other cathedrals, doms and churches on our Viking river cruise. There are some very interesting statues, like the statue of a man holding his own head in his arms and the horse on the wall high above where you would normally view such things.

It is rare piece of architecture, church with four towers, with valuables also in interior. Established as a catholic center in 11th century by educated emperors.

Front and Center in this UNESCO registered town is the Bamberg Cathedral. First built in the 11th century it was commissioned by Henry II. He established this diocese and church here in order to have church members to pray for his soul after death as he and his wife never had any children. Henry II considered this to be the... More
