This is a must see if you are in Bamberg. This site is beautiful and has history ranging back to the year 1000. It is the seat of the archbishop of Bamberg. The most interesting period was around 1100- 1200 when the founder and his wife Empress Kunigunde were in prominence.. She is considered a saint for miracle of walking... More

Another beautiful cathedral. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Bamberg. It has a triple-nave with two choirs whose apses are flanked by two pairs of towers 266’ high. The interior was very different from anything I’ve seen…very plain and constructed of huge stone blocks. The only papal grave in Germany is behind the choir…Pope Clement II who had... More

The Cathedral is named after two saints, Peter and George. Peter was Jesus's first disciple. George was a brave and pious soldier for Jesus. When from far, you can easily spot the place by the four towering spires. When you entered, turn around to see a rider on a horse on the pillar to the left. This horseman is reputed... More

We enjoyed our visit to the cathedral. The cathedral itself has an inspiring atmosphere and the views from the surrounding area are amazing.

A lovely cathedral watching over the little old town, well worth a visit inside. There are some great statues and paintings, including a 'green man'! Do not miss this - but be careful, the 'road' around the cathedral is quite busy and its not clear whether you are standing on road or pavement as they are all cobblestones!

Sited in a commanding position overlooking the city, the cathedral is impressive from the outside and majestic on the inside. A must-see on a visit to Bambewrg.

I was awed by the magnificent cathedral and was astound by its beauty. The big statues and carvings were amazing, if you are around Bamberg this is one place that you cannot miss. It is definitely worth your time to go through this ancient architecture and embrace its beauty.

Too bad there was scaffolding due to construction work but this is really a beautiful cathedral. We went during Advent and sauce the nativity scene on display.

This cathedral has the imperial couple, a horse statute and some beautiful altars. It's definitely worth your time to walk through. It's right across from the Residence so you can do them both in a fairly decent amount of time.

This is a fascinating Dom, containing the tomb of Heinrick and his wife, beautifully presented. Also the tomb of Pope Clement. Some lovely stained glass and statues. Fabulous views over the old town.
