1484 building remodeled over the centuries. in Renaissance style on the Marktstatte. The external facade on the street is historic and embellished with valuable and showy frescoes, once there was the headquarters of the guild of linen weavers. The frescoes tell the peace of F. Barbarossa with the League, the entry of Frederick II into the city, the struggle of the Protestants of Constance against the Habsburgs.
We entered the beautiful courtyard, we saw the place where weddings are celebrated, including one in progress.

Compared to the Council houses in Vienna or other large cities this is not that big but just contemplate Konstanz is not such a big town (85,524 at the end of 2011) and in that light its pretty impressive. We saw the main sights on the ground floor but there were council activities in progress and so we weren't allowed in most of it. It is photogenic and if you go through the doorway just to the left (towards the harbour) on Kanzleistrasse you can get an ice cream at the Arlecchino Café in the Auustiner Platz behind the Rathaus.

Was it pure tough luck, or is this Town Hall constantly scaffolded? I don’t know. The only difference now and six years ago is the type of scaffolding. The current one is more disturbing. Last time I was luckier since was able to see more of this building, especially the nice upstairs rooms. Now it was impossible to walk around even in the pretty garden since some kind of party was going on. Both times I admired the Gargoyles at the end of the eaves and I tried to remember the rest. To my partner, I showed the photographs made six years ago. Fortunately, there was no entry fee. I gave the "Very Good" to this attraction, but only if you can see it.

It's worth looking at but do not expect customer service or help with any questions. Not really a well presented attraction, but hopefully things will improve.

This is still the seat of the city Lord Mayor and the building also houses parts of Konstanz city administration. The main frontage is adorned with interesting decorative frescoes from around 1864 depicting scenes and related personalities of importance. You can usually walk through into the courtyard and out the other side where the underground car park lift is situated. The courtyard has an interesting piece of modern art which is activated by a button - kids will love it! There's also a large painted egg sculpture in the far corner and bronze dog sculpture against the far outer wall entrance. There's a pleasant (if the weather's fine) and reasonably priced cafe (Eis Cafe Arlecchino) in the area of the car park lift. We didn't explore any of the Rathaus interior.

The Rathaus (Municipal Offices) is used frequently for weddings and receptions because of its beautiful gardens in the rear of the facility. Other than its festive uses on weekends, there is nothing spectacular to see

Superb Italian Renaissance style building. Beyond the psk te facade, enter the equally beautiful interior courtyard.
