We always visit Beamish when we visit the UK, this year we visited for the first time (since i was a child) at Christmas. The tickets are now valid for a year, so if you live in the area or are on a longer holiday, you can visit again with no further entry cost involved. Tickets for our youngest to... More

it rained and then was sunny, then rained. As a result we discovered there was not enough areas for people to hide from the rain so we got soaked. The pit houses were packed with people the church etc. No room anywhere to sit my elderly mum down and no one offered. When the sun came out we went to... More

We haven't been to Beamish for a while but decided to go with Irish friends over from Dublin. We had a really good time starting with a walk from the entrance down to the Town. Once there we had a cuppa in Dainty Dinah's then travelled about looking at the shops, our friends being really interested as there isn't anything... More

It was a great day, we went into some shops, went on a tram ride and had a lovely walk around. I would definitely recommend Beamish for a day out.

Great day out. Started at 10 am and just managed to fit everything in by closing time! A brilliant day, and the ticket is valid for a reallywhole year, so we can go back as many times as we like all year. The staff are so helpful and really know their history. only one downside, the food takes ages to... More

Great day out. It can work out expansive if you are a family but the tickets can be used time and time again during the year. Nice on site café and fish and chips are available too (long queue). I great way to show the younger generation how their grandparents/great grandparents lived. Easy access for wheelchairs whilst on site and... More

We visit the museum quite regularly but this is first time we've reviewed it. Our family love it, loads to see and do, there's not enough time in one day to see all, but we keep going and going, we highly recommend anyone to visit it's a great day out in Winter or Summer.

A fantastic living museum for my 4 year old and 7year old to get a real feel for what they have already learned from books and tv about transport, houses and school in bygone eras. We weren't sure how long it would take to get around the areas we really wanted to see or how long our kids attention spans... More

Our Danish friends were truly surprised when I drove into the countryside and into Beamish. The impressive entrance set their expectations very high and they were not dissatisfied As keen photographers they snapped away all day. The tram ride set them up for a full day of adventure The staff were excellent and interactive throughout explaining enthusiastically each attraction. They... More

We have been friends of the Museum for many years. Our visit this time was to see the twelfth night celebrations at Pockley Manor. It was a lovely experience listening to the 3 person group playing traditional tunes and watching people join in the dancing. We walked around the pit village and even managed to get some fish and chips... More
