We visited this temple in November. I loved the vibes of the place. The temple's architecture is beautiful but the upper dome is missing. The temple has been restored well. We visited the temple in 2020 post lockdown and there were very few people which took the experience one notch above. There is a beautiful small waterfall and river. Although there wasnt a lot of water in november but it was very beautiful. Its only 1.5 hour drive away from Vadodara.

Its very old temple of lord Mahadeva. It shows glory, though broken pillars and shikhar. Its symbol of pride of hinduism, as it stand still inspite of several efforts to break it. Its in the way from dakor to sevalia road. From where is few kilometers inside at bank of river mahisagar.

Visit this historical Shiva temple on which a lot has been written.

Most of the locals in Gujarat visit this place for an equally important reason ie a holy dip in Mahi river. After the holy dip in Narmada at Chanod this place is too good. The water if clean and flowing and deep enough to enjoy a safe bath.Local change room facilities available.

Even in the month of May this place if fully crowded and avoid weekends.Plan to visit in weekdays.

Roads are good and local parking is for a minor charge.

Enjoy darshan and the holy dip.

Relax.

A majority of the ancient temples in India are those of Shiva. My urge to visit and explore these temples took me to another interesting magnificent Mahadev temple known as Galteshwar that was built in the 12th century. Located in picturesque surroundings near the confluence of Mahi & Galti rivers, the temple is 16 kms from the famous pilgrimage centre of Dakor and around 50 kms from Nadiad.
The temple was most probably built during the Solanki era and has an unusual architectural style that seems influenced by the Chalukyan style. It is believed that the Shikhar of the temple was destroyed by Mahmud Ghazni while returning after plundering the temple of Somnath while the mythological belief is that Shiva himself came for a night to build the temple but left it incomplete as the sun rose before the Shikhar could be built !!! The mandap outside the sanctum is octagonal in shape and is enriched with rich carvings. The outer walls of the temple has elaborate carvings with figures of gods, goddesses, apsaras and animals. Many figures represent amorous couples embracing each other. Ravages of time & nature and lack of conservation has taken its toll and erosion has disfigured many of the beautifully & aesthetically carved sculptures.
Yet the temple stands tall and impresses the visitor with its grandeur !!!
There is regular worship of the Shivling and a fair is held every year on the banks of the river.

This temple is worth a one time visit. The temple seems to be quite ancient and there were not too many persons at the premises even though we visited on a long weekend. Can also take a dip in the river just below the temple. The river itself is clean, however the surroundings are not very clean and there is major cleaning necessary. Lot of sugarcane juice vendors in the vicinity who also serve juice in plastic glasses on request.
Good bit about this temple is that you can go in the garbha griha offer flowers directly on the shiv linga.

Tip- combine the visit to this temple with Ranchod Rai (Dakor) temple.
