Revered by the faithful as the believed spot where John the Baptist baptized Jesus (MT 3:13-17). Today it is crass, Christianity commercialism. The store sells baptisms, holy garments, holy water. Not saying not to go. Wanted to see it firsthand. Having said that, I was disappointed in how much is FOR SALE.

Such a fun trip. This place is located along the Jordan River in the Galilee region of North Israel. The Jordan river flows out of the sea of Galilee and out into the Sead Sea. The water is pefectly safe as the area people can use is cordened off. What a fantastic experience. People can paddle, immerse their whole bodies in... More

Spent considerable time here as the location and site was quite beautiful and peaceful. Fully enjoyed the ambiance of the locale. The tour people were most gracious and allowed us many opportunities to dip our feet in the sea of Galilee, take pictures and generally immerse ourselves in the atmosphere.

To be baptized in the Jordan River as Jesus did two millenniums age is spiritually inspiring for the many that did it. The Yardenit has White togas and towels for those wishing to be baptized. There are several areas for large groups to perform the baptism and a railed walkway to go down the river. The water was not that... More

I gather that people come her to be baptised but none were happening when we were there. It was nice to be able to get close to the River Jordan. Apart form the River the raea was largely a retail area selling various types of Dead Sea etc products.

Very nice place, I'm not religious but I liked it. A river with eucalyptus trees around, a lot of fish, small ones softly bite your feet, big catfishes just lying on the stones. Water is clean, the trees protect you from the sun. There's a gift shop on the entrance, so you can buy some souvenirs from the holy place.... More

Unforgettable day at Yardenit, the Baptismal Site on the Jordan River! Water was clean and warm and after the immersion and ceremony we received a "Certification of Baptism". The verses from Mark 1:9-11, which are quoted in almost 100 languages are inscribed on ceramic panels. Yardenit gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs and Biblical gifts, more expensive then in...
