I’ve heard of this market for a long time, a phenomenon of this collapsible market. An hour and a half from Bangkok, I hired a taxi to get there for the cost of 2,000 Bahts half day. The experience was exciting! To see the train...More

Went here on a half day trip in the morning. Saw the train come through the market at 830am. A lot of tourists here, as it’s become a very popular site.

My first impression is that this was all staged just for the tourists - but no, this is for real! More amusing than anthing, but we did pick up a couple of snacks for the rest of our day.

An unusual location for vendors to display their produce allowing punters to walk down the track to carry out their shopping. Not sure whether western cultures and tastes would be prepared to purchase their fresh fruit and vegetable from such a location. However, to the...More

On the way to Amphawa Floating market, we had an hour stop in Railway Market. It was not too overcrowded with local shoppers. The market stalls had flower, fruit, dried seafood.... daily essentials. The most interesting part was when we heard the train leaving Maeklong...More

I love marketplaces with their energy, sights, sounds, and smells and Maeklong does not disappoint! You can buy fish, meats, and vegetables on an active railroad. I think it was four times a day, the market vendors have to gather up their wares and move...More
