Visiting this Cathedral is a spiritual as well as an historical journey, and I would recommend visiting after seeing both the Gallo-Roman remains and the mediaeval city. It's not mentioned in the guides, but there is a bas-relief sculpture at the west end of the...More

We were able to attend the Cathedrale for a Christmas concert, and as always the sound inside this old church was brilliant as the choir sang. The architecture is impressive, but the inside is plain so don't get your hopes up if you have your...More

Interesting Romanesque Cathedral in Vaison-la-Romaine. The Cathedral, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, is built on the ruins of a Roman temple, which you can see on the outside of the church near the altar.

If architecture is your thing then this might appeal, otherwise don't expect much. The cloister has the usual columns, although the varying decoration on the capitals provide some interest. Look outside at the choir end of the cathedral and you can see the use of...More

In the south of France there are many cathedrals and abbey churches of more architectural distinction than that of Notre-Dame de Nazareth in Vaison. That said, the severe Romanesque structure with the more refined cloisters that lead off it are well worth visiting if you...More

The architecture of the church is primarily severe Romanesque, but the cloister is pretty. The church is in the main part of town below the medieval city.
