We arrived having read poor reviews and were surprised by how nice and clean and sandy the beach was. The town is full of tourist and beach shops and restaurants that all seemed the same but looked pretty good value - I was expecting to...More

Beach is split up by stone wave breaks into several sections. Some commercial activity near to the beach with pedelo hire but not over commercialised. Small waves on the day of our visit and children enjoyed the sea. Not very busy at the end of...More

First it is hard to get a parking spot. Like the little city, the beach area is littered with garbage. Many police patrols, and quite unpleasant tourist. Lots of cheap eats and souvenir shops.

Arrived today, 19th May and the place was mobbed with gypsies. They are all gathering for their famous big bash for a few days around the 25th May. The town looked like one great big trailer park. If you're staying, good luck!! In my opinion,...More

We went to Saintes Maries midweek in May, well before the pilgrimage and the town was already overrun with RVs and other campers, taking up all of the in-town parking (and often adjacent spots for cars). Only by driving well out along the beach could...More

This nice little village is the heart of vacation country. The ambiance at night is simply amazing! Take some time to stroll around the small streets and sample some of the local specialties like the Gardiane de Taureau... you won't regret it!

Very touristy small town and very windy the day we visited, which is typical here for most days of the year. Plenty of shops selling souveniers and places to eat. Watch your pockets and people coming up to you offering you things, always say no...More

Entrance to the beach (Plage de l'Est) was less than 5 euros for parking. It a 4km long trail. The gentleman at the gate was very helpful explaining the other drive (Route de Cacharel) that we could do as well. We opted to park 1...More

There are some depending on the area you are in and the wind. We rode horseback out on the dunes and along the beach and didn't encounter any at all until we went behind the dunes and into the marsh areas. We had on mosquito... More
