By chance there was a wedding in the Cathedral the day we visited. This made the visit extraordinary interesting. The cathedral is a must see when in Ameins...in fact you can't miss it as it dominates the skyline.

Spectacular. Sooooo big. Had to pinch myself. Moving tributes on pillars to soldiers of Australia. New Zealand and Canada. Stained windows. Bombing damage from 1918 still visible on outside on walls. Highly recommended

8.30 till 18.30 (summer hours) all the days - the info from official site (unfortunately only in French)

There is a tour that takes you up there and you need to check with the ticket office and shop to the immediate left of the Cathedral. Google Amiens cathedral Tours for more. Don't miss it.
It seems like a little far away from Paris, is there a some day tour from Paris?

We were staying in Amines and got the train to Paris for a day it's very easy to do. So yes would be easy for you from Paris to Amines
