This medieval monastery,is perched on the top of island and offers some amazing view of both Normandy and Brittany. The car park is located away from the shoreline, to preserve Mont-Saint-Michel’s exceptional surrounding and you catch the ultra-modern shuttle buses called Passeursbus which runs from 7.30am to midnightin or you can book a special horse-drawn carriage (a Maringote) or you can... Easy to drive to with plenty of parking (£11 for anything over 2 hours) and a visitor centre and toilets at the car park. We arrived at 9am when it was quiet so decided to walk across the bridge to the island which took around 40 minutes and it was a lovely breezy walk in the sunshine with amazing views... More

Journeyed to this Unesco site looking forward to seeing it. Looks brilliant from afar, and up close, but too, too commercialised. Lovely buildings and the outlooks are great but one did not have the opportunity to really value them due to the number of shops and bars within its precincts. Parking the car, over two hours, is €11:70, two bottles... More

We parked at the satellite parking and went with the free bus across to the island. We started by climbing up to the top and took the tour down. There was a lot of tour groups, and you can easy get stocked between these groups. The Abbaye interesting and worths a visit. Afterwards we wanted to have lunch. We want... More

We arrived in the area at about 3 and walked to Mont St Michel from our B&B getting there at 4. There were way more people heading out than in. It was still crazy busy but not as bad as going mid day or in the morning. Take the entrance to the left of the main one to avoid the... More

When we decided to tour France this was one of our must see places. Everything was what we thought is would be untill we entered the gates. I was so disappointed in all the shops lining the streets as you enter that all the charm of seeing MSM from a distance is lost in a moment. The abbaye is something... More

The approach, view from the top, the climb, all worth the trip. Ample parking lot where you catch the free shuttle across the bridge. The walk up to the abbey is a lot of steps but they are mostly gradual, and there are many places to sit and rest along the way. The worse stairs were actually the small spiral... More

The museum/abbey opens at 9am. If you get there at that time, you'll practically have the place to yourself for about 30 minutes. Plan to take your time. The church and the grounds are amazing. The cloister was being renovated when I was there and they expect to be working on it all through the summer of 2017.

I promis to visit one more time and will write a decent review. I tremendously loved this place that couldn't be curious enough to feel it well. It is colossal, could feel the old age, and all I know I want to be there again

I've wanted to visit this tiny island and its church since I learned about it. It didn't disappoint. There is a new parking lot and visitors' center (with restroom and information) and then everyone takes a tram across the new breezeway to the base of the island. We were with a tour group so we paused a few times in... More
