My partner had visited this area some years before and was slightly hesitant to return. We were glad we did. The whole area has been completely regenerated into an attractive (yes slightly touristy) and excellent facility. The paths are excellent for a meander or cycle....More

Tried visiting a year or so ago but found the works on full flow. Really enjoyed watching the locks in action and the 1km walk to the 'bridge'. Will definitely be going again. Thought €7 cost of parking was very reasonable. Well worth a visit.

Interesting locks and canal, as we have the famous Caen Hill locks nearby us. But more impressive is the new Park and Ride lot, which makes access to Beziers quick and convenient.

We had visited the locks several years ago and were looking forward to a return visit. The first thing we noticed was that it is now necessary to park in the new, large car park which is quite expensive. It is good that there is...More

Thank you for your comment. Parking on the car park is a possibility, but not necessary. As you said one can come by bus or with the city center shuttle, but is is also possible to park a little bit further in the neighborhood and...More

We visited just after the entrance to the locks had been remodelled. They are obviously trying to make the most of the experience, with information boards, a long-ish walk from the parking up to the locks and a cafe in situ. You get to see...More

Thank you very much for your comment, it is definitely amazing to think they're still there, working and, and how they were built 350 years ago ! See you soon on the Canal du Midi !

We have been coming here for the past 35 years and were afraid that the character of the place would be taken away by the changes which have been made to the sight. Not at all. It is true that the thrill of being able...More

Good for a few hours - a half day visit. Recently undergone some investment in the parking, walkways, tourists centres and a restaurant/cafe on site. Good fun and also quite educational watching the boats navigate the locks. All the facilities are in good working order...More

So interesting to see large and small boats navigate through these locks. Afterwards we got on the road train which took us all the way into Bezieres and dropped us off for a couple of hours sightseeing, before catching the next road train back.

We went last autumn - there was no pedestrian access to the locks or anywhere with a useful view of them, or the fantastic inclined plane (a technological failure) adjacent to the locks. Boats were still able to pass through... More
