Essential.
They are not the best oysters but they are good.
The prices are almost ridiculous compared to any restaurant in the world (mix of 12 oysters of 3 varieties: €13).
Single units at €0.80. From 2 dozen even cheaper.
And eating them sitting on the stairs of the pier throwing the shells onto the beach… unique moment.
You can accompany it with a glass/bottle of wine that they sell in a food truck.

Exceptional! We ate 48 oysters between us, fresher than ever (in front of us were the farms) and in a perfect location: at the port of Cancale, sitting on the steps facing the sea and at a total cost of 48 euros.
Two glasses of white from the nearby stall completed the job!
Marvelous!!!
I recommend a trip to Cancale to anyone passing through those parts

We trespassed on our trip to Normandy where we had already tasted some oysters (best price 10 euros x 6), but here you can get wild! There are at least a dozen stalls from different breeders offering different quantities, qualities and sizes. For example, 1 plate of 12 pieces of average size for 8 euros.
You eat on the steps and the shells throw themselves on the beach opposite.
And there is also the stall with wine, beer, etc.
If I'm not mistaken it closes at 7pm, just enough time for an appetizer and then dinner in one of the many restaurants in the port

How to resist the temptation to eat the best and freshest oysters there is? The market is right on the ocean, just beyond the Cancale lighthouse and it's a beauty to see people eating oysters served on preformed trays to accommodate oysters and lemon. Experience to try absolutely

It's a nice place to eat oysters. There are all kinds and the price is great. they give you a dish that you then return and you can eat them on a staircase in front of the oyster farms. In the bars next door you can buy wine or other drinks. The city of cancale also has a nice free parking five minutes walk from the market, convenient for parking.

perfect and cute the market but they could have set up a covered place to protect from the rain and sun so that we could taste the oysters. the little gargotte next door offers it well. Otherwise go to Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes instead to taste fresh seafood in a nicer setting (La degust or la ferme de niels). it's next to

Oyster lovers look no further!!! This small market sells the freshest oysters harvested from the oyster beds just behind the 8 stalls. Get a dozen (or more...I went back for seconds) for as little as 6-7 euros. I recommend getting a platter with 2-3 varieties and then repeating your favorites. A small van sells wine and other drinks that pair perfectly with your platter. Cancale is also a fun seaside village with a huge beach at low tide (fun to walk among the boats that rest on the sand), plenty of restaurants and shops. A great spot to spend an afternoon.

A place that enters the heart! Oysters and white wine for breakfast I think is only possible here. A dream for those who love oysters, which are all worth trying and all delicious. Furthermore, and not to be taken for granted, the kindness and hospitality of the people who manage these stalls is admirable. They are eaten directly in the street and there are special baskets for lemon. The glasses and forks are returned to the manager and the shells directly to the sea. In short, it is truly a magical place. We'll be back!

The oyster sellers are super friendly and Ace.
it's a very friendly moment (and even more international this year)
the only downside this year: the white wine seller of the white wine truck.
unpleasant , even rude, slips in the nose and hand in the pocket , who boasts of having about fifteen disgruntled (including me) every day .
......and not even a local white soothsayer.
I don't get the Impression it was him the previous time.
Therefore, it is better to take your muscadet to the large stand at the end of the embankment

We were here on a Sunday and feared the oyster stands would not be opened, but they were! Go down to the entrance to the pier at the far end, the one closest to the view of Mont St. Michel. You'll find loads of fresh oysters to your left at a fantastic price! And if the tide is low, you'll see the incredible oyster beds. There are many places to dine after you've slurped your plate of oysters as an appetizer! Enjoy!
