Beautiful cozy town. It is worth visiting it. Combine it with a trip to Colmar or explore the castles nearby. Together with the 3 Castles of Eguisheim and Hohlandsbourg Castle, the trip took us almost the whole day.

This village is so beautiful! Personally, it is my favourite in the Alsace. My second favourite is Kaysersberg. I highly recommend visiting. It has gorgeous buildings, quaint little cobbled streets and beautiful flowers all around. There are also a plethora of artisan shops and bakeries. It really is too beautiful and idyllic to be believed.

A supe- pretty village with a fine main street. We visited Eguisheim, Colmar and Riquewihr in a circular day trip from Strasbourg. An excellent way to spend a sunny day. Three lovely places.

If Colmar is the prettiest town in the region of Alsace, then Eguisheim is definitely the prettiest village.
And that's even quite official: Eguisheim has been ranked as "One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France" since 2003 and won the title of "France's Favourite Village" in 2013 on a TV show.

And one can easily see why. After you drop your car on the massive parking lot just at the entrance of town (east-side) you'll find yourself in a fairy-tale style old village where time seemed to have stopped a long time ago.

The whole village is easily walkable. Be sure to start with the "ring"-walk leading around the whole village through the nicest streets and lanes. All cobbled.
Countless shops and restaurants along the way. Yes, it is very popular with national and international visitors, but there are really some good shops with high quality products.

Built in 1257 Eguisheim has an endless number of beautiful and colourful old buildings and houses. When you walk along the outer ring, you really could stop every few seconds to admire the amazing architecture.

After doing the ring-walk you should also walk around the center. The Château de Saint-Léon-Pfalz, Fontaine de Saint-Léon, Chapelle Saint-Léon IX, Presbytère Catholique and more sights can be found here. Along with even more restaurants to sit down and watch the world go by.

A visit to Eguisheim is not complete without doing some wine tasting. For Eguisheim has many wineries.
It is impossible to check them all out in one day - you'd be driven away in an ambulance if you attempt to do so.
We chose the "Wolfberger" winery. Regular red, white and rosé. But also Crèmant (sparkling wine - on par with Champagne quality-wise), liquors and dessert wine. Free tasting (a flight of three) even. Get your hands on one of their Rosé-Crèmants. Tasty.

Eguisheim. A real highlight on our 5-week Road Trip through France. We'll be back this spring. Can't wait.

This is the second time that we visit Eguisheim and if I am back to Alsace, I will go again. The pattern of the streets is amazing, the peculiar shops they have, do not miss the mushroom shop. Friendly people and lots and lots of history. My favorite town in Alsace, no question about it.

Many folks stay in Colmar, or further afield, and use it as a base to explore the surrounding villages, vineyards, castles, etc. I recommend you make Eguisheim your base, allowing you to really soak up the atmosphere and ambiance of this small town, especially as the crowds diminish in late afternoon and into the evening. It's a perfect location to explore Colmar for the day, then escape back to the friendly calm of Eguisheim. If you have wheels, Kaysersberg and other interesting towns, villages and chateaux are easy to get to. If not, rent a bike or don a good pair of walking shoes and explore the surrounding vineyards or the Route des Cinq Châteaux. At the end of every day, friendly and relaxing Eguisheim is waiting for you with a great choice of restaurants and wine-tasting rooms, and your quiet inn or guesthouse.

During our trip to Alsace, we had a short guided tour of this absolutely beautiful village and we enjoyed every moment of it!When we were strolling along the cobble-stoned streets decorated with blossoming flowers and German architecture we had the impression that we were transferred back to medieval times! It is less touristy than Colmar but even more charming. We also had the opportunity to taste "Grand cru"wine. If you're around Colmar this village is a must-see!

We arrived in Eguisheim after a short trip from Colmar. This place was incredible! Very beautiful streets, with every house decorated for Christmas. I truly recommend to also visit Eguisheim if you arrive in Alsace.

A stones throw from Colmar, Eguisheim is pretty, offers plenty to see to the visitors through its little cobbled streets. Much quieter than Colmar but equally enchanting. Worth a visit.
