Travelling up the mountain was a real experience. Getting to the top, we saw Lake Plastiras. A man made lake. An engineering marvel. An incredible view of the lake in middle of mountain range

Note that as of mid june 2021, if you try to drive around the lake from the east, then south to the dam and north again on the west side of the lake, the road is in disrepair, and is caved in at some spots. Drive carefully!

A nice early spring visit (1st of March) to the lake and its beauties. Following the lakeside route, ascending to the mountains, you will discover dozens of villages "posing" in a beautiful natural setting. The lakeside Kalyvia Pezoulas and Neochori are the most developed with hotels, taverns, cafe-bars and have infrastructure for outdoor activities.
We took a healthy walk by the lake, indulged in sports activities such as boating on the lake and archery and relaxed enjoying the lakeside scenery and the mountains.
It is one of the largest artificial lakes in Greece and owes its existence to the inspiration of General Nikolaos Plastiras (from where got its name), the creation of an impressive dam.
Worth your visit

Lake Plastiras also called Tavropos Reservoir is an artificial lake fed by Tavropos river, located in Karditsa regional unit, near the city of Karditsa. The elevation is 750m, very beautiful place to relax.
