If you are staying in or near Desenzano, this Roman villa is definitely worth a visit. It is worth the 4 euro entrance fee just to see the lovely Roman mosaics.

Went here on the first Sunday of the month and was thrilled to find it was free. You first go into a museum and there all the labels are in English but once we got out into the villa, the signs were only in Italian...More

Just behind the lake-front is this fine archeological site: worth a brief visit. This was a large lake-side villa redeveloped over several decades. The surviving mosaic floors and hypocausts are remarkable,. The small museum also shows some finds of statuary and a fabulous engraved glass...More

Well worth a visit if you are in Desenzano, combined with the Museum of archaeology. Some descriptions are in English, though mostly German. & Italian of course.

Well worth finding this little gem out and at 4 euro cheap enough. The ruins have quite a few really well preserved mosaic floors which also show 4 different levels of floor showing how the villa has been built on over the decades. What I...More
