...this is the place for you. I am a Latin teacher, so I have a particular interest. There are several floors of hundreds of sarcophagi providing lots of opportunity for pictures. There are also artifacts from the Etruscan settlement excavated in the area. Don't get...More

Some great pieces but a lot of very similar pieces as well. Would have preferred fewer pieces better presented. Lots of sarcophagi but also coins, mosaics, vases and tomb goods. Warrior's tomb goods interesting. More English explanations would have helped.

We had read a bit about this museum and knew what to expect. There are not a lot of English signs on the items. Interesting collections of coins, vases and funeral urns from the Etruscan era. Off the top floor they have a balcony with...More

The museum had an interesting collection and was well presented. It was possible to rent headsets for the exhibit to get more information in your language.

Great museum with a large collection of urns, bronzes, ivories and works in glass and gold. This allows you go get feel for how Volterra came to be. There are a total of 3 floors to roam around and admire.

Site of L'ombre della Serra, Etruscan sculpture which famously inspired works by Giacometti. Rest of collection very interesting.

If Etruscan history is your thing, then you'll be in your element here. But even if it's not, the extent and condition of the collection - and the almost as impressive range of artifacts from the Roman era - makes it well worth the visit....More
