Loved walking the streets of Vieste browsing in the wonderful shops, hanging out on the beach and eating gelato. The evenings were spent enjoying a music festival in the main piazza, dinners outside and enjoying great wine at fabulous enotecas before strolling back to the hotel. A beautiful town, surrounded by water, full of history and beautiful architecture.

You can wander the narrow lanes at your leisure, plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, and not over touristy.

I would not recommend spending a long time here. It is nice just to walk around and discover the city, but not to stay for multiple nights.

On a headland of bleached white cliffs stands the ancient village of Vieste. It is literally surrounded by the azure Adriatic, and literally sparkles in the sun. The old town is cluttered and charming with endless shops and restaurants. There is no vehicular access to the Storico, and precious little parking nearby. If you stay on the beach, an attractive... There are plenty of really lovely old town centres in southern Italy but this one rivals the best It clings on to the promontory blessing it with wonderful views A must visit with many good restaurants as well

We took a stroll around the old town of Vieste in September 2016 and enjoyed walking the quaint old streets and taking in the views over the Agean sea. It's worth the climb up to the castle area for the view but sadly it seems you cannot go inside the castle. The cathedral is the only other historic building at... More

You can enter the old town by walking up hill past the cathedral and into a maze of narrow streets and alley ways, there are lots of restaurants, bars and gelaterias along with numerous gift shops and craft shops selling hand made leather goods and jewelry. There are lots of views over the city roofs and out to sea. A... More

The old town of Vieste is nothing less than lovely. You will find many small streets and nice piazza's filled with nice restaurants and small (and tasty!) shops! There are beautiful views over the Adriatic Sea.
