It's a beautiful medieval cathedral built in the 12th century. There must be frescoes by Lippi and Pinturicchio but we got there on a Sunday during the morning mass and didn't feel like wandering thru and taking pictures while people were praying.

There are many beautiful Duomos in Italy, all unique in their own ways. The Duomo in Spoleto is special mostly for its unique position in the lovely palazzo situated at the bottom of a wide set of steps. The portico on the front of the Duomo was added later, but it provides a lovely feature to the facade with 8... More

Charming duomo but not worth going out of your way for. The approach to it down the steps is worth a photo though

We were here on March and it was too windy. Nonetheless the church was really nice and the tranquility of the small town made us very happy with out trip to Spoleto.

We made it here to see the Duomo Spoleto on a rainy Monday afternoon, and it was well worth the walk in the rain. There is a very impressive escalator system that takes one up to this impressive sight, which has outstanding views of the city.

It's astonishing. Coming from piazza del Mercato during a cold morning of December and breathing the peaceful of the area, approaching to the Duomo and seeing the wonderful staircase and the Church down. It's wonderful!

A must see part of Spoleto - the whole building is impressive and in immaculate condition. Easy to view from the roadway ascending up to the castle.

This is the Duomo of old Spoleto, Umbria, perched atop a hill overlooking the city and valleys. Great views of the Umbrian hills and old town.

From the moment we turned the corner and found the duomo with its piazza and bell tower, we were thrilled. Nothing about it is overdone or remotely touristy, and you can quietly wander in and look around at your own pace. Save 50 cents for the lights to appreciate the full amazing beauty of the Fra Filippo Lippi frescoes. Unforgettable.

If you are in Spoleto, and have an interest in Christian history and paintings, this is worth a visit.
