Reford Gardens. One of Canada’s Premier Garden DestinationsThe Reford Gardens/Jardins de Métis are recognized as one of Canada’s outstanding gardens. A national historic site, they were created by a passionate gardener and plant lover, Elsie Reford, between 1926 and 1958. Visitors to this verdant domain of more 200 acres can admire the splendours of some 3,000 species and varieties of native and exotic plants displayed in fifteen gardens. A dozen sculptures by contemporary artists are discovered as you walk the pathways and traverse the gardens.

While visiting Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens we had lunch at Le Bufton. We shared the salade du jour and each had the Pain brioche, saucisson grillée....both were fantastic!!!! Well worth the visit if taking in the gardens.

These gardens are located in a unique microclimate on the eastern shore of the Lower St. Lawrence. Their signature blossom is the blue Himalayan Poppy. There are fabulous varieties of plants over twenty acres and especially along a path called the Grand Alley. In addition,...More

We visited this garden to see the blue poppies, which did not disappoint. The rest of the garden in late June would also have been entirely worth a day's drive. A place to learn much about gardening. Certainly one of the best gardens in Canada.

We visited these gardens in September and were so impressed by their beauty even at the end of the season. Very peaceful overlooking the river. Lots of inspiration. Would like to have a season pass and go back often throughout the year. Thousands of snow...More

The garden is well maintained and the historical value of the visit is high. I assume during the summer the flowers must be awesome. Still we really enjoyed our visit.

We drove some 30 miles from our hotel to see these gardens and now, having seen them, we would perhaps have driven 100. We found this place to be a real gem. Even though all the flowers were not all still in bloom, the numerous...More

I have read about this garden for years, and was so eager to visit. Unfortunately, my expectations were too high - firstly, I am a Victoria BC native, so I compare every garden to Butcharts Gardens (among the best in the world) and secondly, also...More

This was not as nice as I expected it to be. It was just okay. It was a little bit overpriced for what it was, compared to other gardens I have visited. I was disappointed there was not more. The gardens are very well maintained...More

Besides visiting the gardens we had a culinary lunch at the restaurant. The flower appetizer was most impressive. Lamb came from the site and all the vegetables were locally grown. Fish and sea food is also on the menu. The wine list is quite impressive....More

We stopped there while there was still some light rain that got us hesitating a bit, but in the end it was really worth it. It's really beautiful and the fun is guaranteed with kids that are at least able to read the names, my...More

I agree with the above comment but I also recommend you take some time to have a wonderful lunch at the Villa Estevan located within the gardens. It's really worth it. They only serve lunches... And it's delicious...
