Excellent views and well worth the effort to get up. Takes about 30 mins. Take good shoes of you head further up to Santa Barbara church and allow an hour each way.

This is a 'must do' walk for anyone visiting Riva. The views are stunning and even better if you continue to climb further up to the Santa Barbara shrine (also known as the star at night for obvious reasons). The climb to the Bastion was...More

Not to be attempted on a very hot day, this is good exercise giving brilliant views of Riva. A big relief is finding a good cafe at the Bastion after such an energetic walk up the zig zag path.

A must see in Riva for the views over the town and surrounding countryside. Good pathways leading up - in shade in the afternoon but a challenge on a hot day. The views from the bar at the top were really good and the Bastion...More

This was well worth the climb up from the road - despite the heat. The views of the town and the lake were fabulous.

We enjoyed running up to the Bastione which was hard work, but the views of Riva and lake Garda from there were fabulous. Running back down through the woods was my favourite bit!

Awesome view and nice bit of history. Bit of a trek up to it but worth it.

superb views across Riva and lake. Well worth the climb up the zig-zag path. You cannot see Bastion until you reach it, but lights are numbered and there are 125 of them so if you sit down near no 60 you are half way!

I agree with the other answers, it would be possible with difficulty. The pathway has tracks for cars but these might be too wide for a wheelchair. Having said that, many families with children in buggies made it up the... More

It's a steadily steep climb up, but on a well-surfaced trail.
