While strolling through the streets early in the morning before all the shops had opened and the tourist hordes had arrived, I spied the unmistakable work of Pia Fornato on the shelves. I've collected her work for a number of years, and have only seen it two places: Biordi's in San Francisco and at her shop in Deruta. We waited until they opened so that I could look more closely. We had the opportunity to visit with the proprietors for quite a bit while I decided what to buy. We learned that they are the only place outside of Deruta that sells her work in Italy. What a find for me! I was pleased to find out that with the number of pieces I was purchasing, shipping was included for free. My, how times have changed. I remember buying ceramics in Italy 20 years ago and paying nearly as much to ship them home as the ceramics themselves had cost. Another pleasant surprise. The staff was helpful, very friendly and congenial. Since our purchases were made near the beginning of our time in Italy, they gladly arranged to hold shipment until we arrived back home. The pieces arrived well packed, safe and sound, one week after we returned home. We hope to visit again one day. They certainly had many other wonderful pieces from which to choose as well. It isn't far from the main piazza, so search it out. You will find it worthwhile. They are not loaded with the typical touristic stuff that you see elsewhere. They have unique and original pieces from all over Italy.

My wife and I found Ravello Arte while visiting Ravello last September. We were looking for high quality ceramics, fairly priced and willing to ship. We found what we wanted in just a few minutes. Carla (the owners daughter I think) was working in the store that day. She is such a beautiful young women. Her English is amazing and her knowledge of the products was first rate. We ordered a large bowl, a large platter and a medium sized salad or fruit bowl. Each item was custom signed with our family name on it. We have purchased pottery and ceramics in Italy before. These pieces are well made with smooth glazing and very nice designs. I would purchase from them again. No need to worry about the shipping. It took a few weeks to get the items but they arrived in perfect condition.

Give them a try. You will not be disappointed

There were so many beautiful things in this store that is was almost a little overwhelming (in a good way)! Anything and everything from dishes to Christmas ornaments decorated with beautiful patterns and colors. We got oil and vinegar bottles and use them almost every day! Great customer service - at this store she actually lets you shop without constantly trying to sell you something - in the other stores they were overly aggressive and all we wanted to do was leave the store! Highly recommend this one!

I purchased 2 items from Ravello Arte in July, 2023. I inspected the items in the shop, but not adequately. I was assured by the sales person that everything was fully guaranteed and that I should contacted him if there were any issues.

On receipt, and more careful inspection, one of the pieces has a very defective glaze. I have contacted the company 3 times by email and have not received a response.

The company policy appears to be that once their items are out of Italy, they will not respond to any concerns.

Do not purchase items from Ravello Arte unless you are entirely satisfied that the items are completely acceptable at the time of purchase at the store.

I went to Ravello Arte, after reading great reviews on TA. They do have beautiful pottery and helpful service. My only problem was, before buying some dishes I was concerned about shipping costs, wondering if it would be better to buy in the US. ( I was interested in the Vetri) They would not give me an exact amount, but ballpark, it sounded ok, so I purchased the pottery. You sign a paper allowing the shipping people to charge you whatever they come up with. A couple of weeks later, My credit card co called asking us to ok a charge that was much more than the pottery! I emailed Rav Arte, she was helpful, said she would talk to shippers, that it was indeed too much! When she went they had gone on holiday, so another week went by, and she let me know the new shipping price, it was just slightly less than the pottery. I would have bought it in the US, since Vetri is available here.

Recently I visited the Amalfi Coast and before traveling I had decided to bring back some ceramic plates. We went to many shoppes alog the various cities and towns in the coast, all nice and with similar designs. Ravello Art was where we finally bought our plates, it had he traditional patterns along with other original ones. At the family shop, Carla helped us out and we picked a simple blue, tuquoise and golden yellow design. Carla, the doughter of the owner, helped us pack for airflight and carry to the car our 24 plates; she was extremely sweet and cheerful, called her sister for help, her mom to quickly provide us with the missing plates . Beautiful family, made it a local tasty experience to buy and now as we use the plates, we remeber the family from whom we got them...it seemed they had a great simple life! Thanks arla and family!!

We visited this ceramic shop while in Ravello in October last year and bought a couple of beautiful pieces from them. We had looked at ceramic shops in various towns in Tuscany but they were all very expensive and the pottery all looked so commercially made and all the same! When we came here and found this shop we were impressed with the beautiful artwork they had which is all handmade and unique. One of our purchases was a wall hanging of a bunch of fruit and when we got home felt that the space on the wall really would look better with two! I contacted the shop via email and found that they we so very very accommodating and kind and helpful. Through several emails and photos which were sent to me we identified the pieces I would like and arranged payment and shipping. My purchases arrived safely and all carefully wrapped a couple of weeks later, all the way to Australia. Through all our communications Carla from Ravello Arte was incredibly kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this business as the artwork is beautiful, reasonably priced, and above all the staff couldn't be more helpful. I do apologise to Carla for taking so long to write this review and thanks again. I have my ceramics on my kitchen wall and enjoy them every day!

I purchased a huge vase/urn called "Girasole" that is magnificently hand painted.
It has detailed sunflowers, wide large handles, over three feet tall and weighs over eighty pounds, just a great piece of art that is now in the entrance of my home as a focal point for guests.

It was delivered to my home in perfect condition in the promised time frame.

Lino was patient and generous. He also gave my wife a serving dish that compliments the "Girasole" as a thank you for the purchase. Classy move.

I am sure that all the shops in this fabulous town are wonderful, but, Ravello Arte exceeded my expectations with their service.

Ravello should be a destination for anyone travelling to the Amalfi Coast. Although we found similar art in other small towns such as San Gimignano the uniqueness of the pieces was unsurpassed. We wish that we could have taken more home. Prices were reasonable but this is not where you shop for cheap souvenirs, this is where you go for the out of the ordinary to remind you of your trip to Italy!

Ravello is a magical place that should be on everyones "bucket list." While there for the third time last year, we decided to order a custom table top from Ravello Arte and have it shipped home. We were assured that we could have anything we wanted put on it, names, date, etc. We emailed back and forth several times regarding the size and placement of our names and date and they sent a final picture of the table, which we all agreed on. When we received it though, it was not at all as agreed and we are so disappointed. Naturally, their attitude is that it is custom so they will make no adjustment , or even explain or apologize. Fortunately it is still beautiful and excellent quality, just don't trust that you will get what you order!!! I give this shop a 3 simply because of the quality of the merchandise.
