If you walk down the Piazza Duomo, this Neo-Classical building is on your left. It was once a gentleman's club but has been restored with a room for ladies now. When we were there it wasn't open to visit but you can go round if it is open.

Built in 1850 as a Gentlemen's Club, perhaps as an oasis and for erudite discussion, however a room has nowadays been converted for use by the ladies. A glimpse of times gone by when who knows what was discussed between these walls,. A pretty building, beautifully decorated inside and well worth the visit.

Lovely big room with a view over the beautiful square. Great breakfast, amazing & helpful staff. Beautiful old town - worth the walk as it’s stunning & has great restaurants.

Damiano the guide was full of infectious enthusiasm for this wonderful club, and the associated theatre, and garden. A real surprise and a must for afficionados of Di Lampedusa’s “The Leopard”. Cant recommend this tour too highly. Grazie tante mille.
PS Check out the family coat of arms for the hedgehogs.

Charming neoclassic survival, its facade with fluted Doric pilasters is the spot where the local gentry met. These people were addicted to the corbelled balconies on which the local masons lavished so attentive attention.

Beautiful external architecture. We were unable to go in but the elegance and rich detail of the facade provided a good feel for the lifestyle of Sicilian upper classes once upon a time.

Built as a private club for aristocrats to meet it is not generally open to the public but you can visit on private tours sometimes - we weren't able to go inside during our visit to Ragusa. You might recognise it from episodes of Inspector Montalbano.

This is an historic men’s club where the intellectuals of the time would meet to discuss grave topics and solve the problems of the age.
Today it is just another interesting building in the classical style.

We were amazed by this place - small but yet grand. An old fashioned gentleman's club that had been (eventually) brought up to date - the old billiard room was turned into a tea room for the ladies to have a natter although they did rescue the billiard table and re-site it out the back.
The theatre across the way was awesome; it must be wonderful to see a proper production there.
Then we went into the garden and a tiny one roomed museum of clothes and bits and bobs. If you get the chance to visit, take it.
