a greek cross plan inspired by Brunelleschi's Pazzi chapel, worth a stop. the maiolica frieze by della robbia is great and is known by all artists who love his work( i am one) in the cupola are the 4 evangelisists. the unfinished exterior is a quirkish part of its charm.

A wonderful little church, this building has an intriguing history of miracles, miraculous images and shows the political relationship between Florence and the surrounding Tuscany from the 14th century. The area was originally a prison with the Madonna and Child image believed to have been within the courtyard of the prison. A young boy is believed to have seen the... More

In Prato you can find a wonderful church of Rinascimento: Santa maria delle carceri!!! It was buit under Lorenzo de Medici by his architect Sangallo and now is he second most important church in Prato after Duomo. his name remember that once close there was also a Jail. When in Prato don't miss it!!!!

this was all that made it interesting inside. There is so much more to see in Prato, so we'd give this church a miss.
