Really chilled village surrounded by stunning landscape, we loved it but we went a peak season so it was really busy and HOT. Definately recommend doing it out of season so you can really get to feel the peaceful relaxed way of life.

When you visit Cinque Terre definitely visit Portovenere. The ferry stops there and it is a charming town. Great food and scenery.

We stayed in Lerici and switched ferries in Portovenere on the way to Cinque Terre to hike. Loved the low key energy of Portovenere. So scenic, tons of history, but also life of the villagers going on around us. Leave yourself an hour or two...More

Very nice but hot and crowded. I would like to go here off tourist season next time. Saw a couple of dolphins on our way here.

Beautiful scenery and great views from the top of the Church and up by the castle. It is also possible to go for a swim in Byron's Grotto which is great, but you might need to be quick to find a good spot to sit...More

Nice entertainment area at night but parking is difficult to find. I won't stay there because of this. Beautiful port and village. Definitely to be put in your planning.

One of the must see places in Liguria. Try to take a boat from La Spezia. Parking Is big issue. Not many places and expensive. Restaurants are more or less tourist traps but who cares in such a nice place.

....very nice village in a stile of Cinque Terre, and great view...it is worthed to visit. You must take a bus...we traveled from La Spezia aprox. 20 min (buy tickets in traffica - much cheaper (2,5 eur one way) than directly in bus)

Hi Kitty, we were there in late March and unfortunately a week early before the "season" opened. We researched up and down the port of La Spezia and found that in season there are not only the ferries that take you up and... More

Debby Not as far as I know. You could hike to riomaggio but that would be a loooong way. Would say portovenere is a side trip, different from cinque terre.
