This town and the surrounding mountains are spectacularly beautiful. But it is so loud. Church bells go off every 15 minutes from 7:00 until 10:00 or 11:00pm. Loud, outdoor heavy metal German bands screaming until 11:00pm. Come to party. Not to relax or hike because you won’t sleep.

We were on a Riviera Travel tour to Lake Garda, Venice, Verona and the Dolomites. Ortisei was our first stopping point out of three on the day that we toured around the Dolomites. It really is a beautiful town. We weere lucky to have a stopover of around an hour that allowed us to do some sightseeing, shopping for gifts, and have coffee and the most wonderful apple strudel in the 'Cafe Corse' which is the subject of another review. Even though it was October we were in Ortisei on gloriously sunny day so probably saw the town at its best.

The Zona Pedonale was great as it allowed us to take our time strolling through the town centre without having to bother about traffic. Well worth visting.

Ortisei' s a small town, but there is much to enjoy: shops with carvings, lovely coffee shops and cafés, an interesting looking wine bar, wine shop and gelateria. The beautifully carved pews are something to behold and the interior is lovely. Picture perfect pedestrian zone, lovely to take a walk in the morning or in the evening. Really enjoyable! Ortisei' s pedestrian zone is definitely worth a visit. Loved Ortisei.

Germany in Italy, all the quaint buildings in the town center resemble hotels and inns in the Tyrole with beautiful pastel facades and gingerbread woodwork. Lots of restaurants and cafes and an art center displaying the wood sculptures typical for the area. An amazingly opulent St Jacob's Church. Not to be missed, the funicular car up to

The walking zone is like a fairytale in Winter seasons. Packed with sport-shops (mostly for ski), restaurants and hotels, is very nice because it has a bridge over the main road who leads you directly to the ski lifts.

Shops are really lovely, beautiful homewares, souvenirs & clothing.
It has the cable cars & funicular & it is so nice to walk around.
The buses come in to the town centre.
So if you can get the bus as parking is a nightmare on busy days.
