Really great if you have a bike and can go from one side to thr other. And stop at a beach in the middle, where it is less crowded.

Such an ugly beach. We traveled Italy by car have seen a lot, had two more days to relax before catching the flight from Rome to NY. Rome, Tuscany, Cinque Terre and Pisa all spectacular!
Let me tell you that from Pisa down to Fiumicino is just an ugly dried out region including Porto Ercole, Orbetello. Could not find anything decent to relax in beautiful surroundings budget $250 per night. We drove all day looking for nice beach all were very bad including Feniglia. Have no idea what people like about it!!! Maybe haven’t been anywhere else? We end up in ugly Santa Marinella hotel Cavalluccio Marino the only beach front hotel on Capolinaro beach which left a bad taste for us at the end of this trip. Looks different on pictures. Knowing this, would have spent two more days in lovely part.
For short- you really have to know where you are driving in Italy otherwise you can end up taking yourself for a big ride!

Tiny spit of land connecting Mt Argentario to the mainland and forming a lagoon. Mostly covered in pines there are beached on the ocean side and the lagoon side is harder to access given over to wild birds. There are cycling and hiking trails throughout. Biking is probably your best bet.

La Feniglia is a strip of land connecting Monte Argentario to the mainland. It is a lovely nature reserve with pine-covered dunes and with a sandy beach on the Mediterranean. You can hire bikes at either end at a very reasonable price. We were staying in Porto Ercole, so we rented from the Monte Argentario/Porto Ercole end. I’d recommend swimming in the middle beach as we found it to be least crowded. A wonderful mix of biking, nature, scenery, and swimming in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.

you have to pay like 15 euro for an umbrella and beach chairs but i think thats normal, so we were fine with it - maybe if you walk a little further you can find a region without umbrellas and chairs where you can lay without paying. the day we went there they had a giant inflatable castle or something like that in the water so it was not as natural/untouched as some of the photos show. we enjoyed it anyways.

There might be parts of the beach that are private, but the bit we were at was a large and peaceful pretty public beach. Not many people around so a real nice chilled end to the holiday. The sea was a bit choppy but enjoyable. A lovely place to while away the day with a picnic and a beer. Car park was about 10 minutes or so away

Wonderful beach, lots to do, beds are a bit pricey but wasn't a problem and the sea is beautifully warm!

This is an area the Italians have kept quiet! Spent a lovely day at the beach and didn't hear any language other than Italian. Lovely clean and safe beach with sunbeds, umbrellas, kids slides, restaurants, kiosks, toilets, showers etc etc. Two beds plus large umbrella (all set up) cost Euro 24 whole day or Euro 18 half day. Worth the money (towels not provided). The sea is very gently sloping so you have to go out 50m or so to get to waist height, so very safe for kids. Lifeguard etc on duty. Parking is plentiful but busy, for Euro 1 per hour, but the local buses also run there so no need to take the car at all. You can also go much further along the beach where its much quieter but without the mentioned faciities.

It was such a nice surprise package for us. We rented bikes from Porto Ercole (Delores Rentals) and cycled through the national park - it was just gorgeous and lovely getting away from all the tourist. Love all the deer too. Will definitely do it again.

If you are looking for a nice quiet, serene beautiful Mediterranean beach this park is definitely for you. There are no cars allowed so you must hike or take a bicycle into the park. There are numerous turn off's from the main bicycle trail, where you can walk your bike down to the beach and lock it in a bicycle stand. Remember to bring refreshments and some food since there are no food vendors in the park either. You can walk for several miles on the beach and find your own secluded spot.
