Took the funicular railway up to Montecatini Alto, 7 euro return fare. Worth the trip as Alto is a quaint little town with spectacular views, full of reasonably priced bars and restaurants.

Don't miss a visit to this quaint town located on a hill above Montecatini Terme. You can get there by funicular or driving. Great spot to stop for a coffee or gelato and enjoy the beauty of the area.

An absolutely picturesque little village at the top of the hill. Well worth the E7 per person to visit via funicular. The view at sunset is purely magical. Stay for dinner and see the lights of the city below. There are several restaurants and their...More

We took the funicular railway which was an experience in itself and well worth the trip. The Alto is very pretty with nice restaurants and shops and historic buildings to look around. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours here.

The air was so fresh, the village so peaceful that you couldn't help feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Pick (from the many cafés and restaurants) Le Giardino for its views from the terrace at the back - also for its friendly, courteous service and good food..

A grand trip giving fabulous views of the surrounding area from the top of the hill Old Montecatini. Some interesting buildings.. The fernicular is obviously passionately maintained by the staff.

I would say no we had one which was nice as we were able to get around easier. The town itself is fairly small and there are 2 train stations in town.

Hotel Da Vinci I suggest. Very well located with good staff and food. Professional price performance. Walking distance from the center and bath....also funicular easy to reach.
